NFL WEEK 1 - Predictions, picks, and all the other stuff to Super BowlLI

C

Hello Everyone,

It's here. week 1. Is. here. Nothing like this is exciting in any other sport. I mean, to be honest I don't obsess about any other sport other than the NFL. Every move in the offseason is scrutinized. Hockey isn't. Maybe the NBA. MLB, not really.

All roads from tonight on lead to Super Bowl LI in Houston. Who will be there. Well, I'm doing things a little bit different this year. So with that, here goes.

AFC East - The Patriots have owned this division for as long as I can remember. the Bills, have improved in the last offseason. QB is always a problem for them. Maybe they've figured it out. The Dolphins,  well their problem is typically everything. Start o ut great, end up like a fish out of water. They have some stability at coaching this year. Good coaches. Hold the team responsible. Jets, good last year. Barely missed out on the playoffs. Will they able to repeat and improve? Yes.But as usual, they are going to be looking over their shoulder, because no matter how much time Tom Brady misses, the Patriots are the team to beat. Expected order of finish.
  1. Patriots
  2. Jets
  3. Bills
  4. Dolphins
I don't see the Patriots not winning this division. Mark my words, when Brady comes back from his 4 game bench ride, he is going to light shit up.

AFC North - This is one of my favorite divisions. Ravens had a much tougher team than people realize last year, but ultimately injuries cost them, I don't see them being super competitive, but they always seem to shock me. The Browns even with RG3, won't be able to compete much. Here's the thing, they will be much improved, which isn't saying much considering they are annual bottom feeders of the division, but I really think a 7-9, possibly 8-8 record is within reach. The Bengals, look, I'm sick of them being just good enough. Make the playoffs, suck like a vacuum on it's last journey. Wait, that's poor analogy. To hell with it, they suck in the playoffs. How Marvin Lewis hangs on to his job after not being winning in the playoffs, is baffling. They have the tools, but a lot of suspensions loom. The Steelers is about as loaded as a team can be this season. As long As Rothlesomething is at QB, they always have a chance. Plus, they have the amazing Antonio Brown. Expected order of finish.
  1. Steelers
  2. Bengals
  3. Browns (going out on a limb)
  4. Ravens
AFC South - If there is one surprise team that will make a giant leap this year, it's the Jaguars. I feel that years of being the AFC whipping post, they will finally field a semi competitive team. Great draft. Great offseason. Bortles looks ready to go. The Titans upgraded, but still won't be that great. I think they are about a year away from competing. The Colts with Andrew Luck not on the sideline, will be strong. I don't think they have the defense (always a big problem in Indy) to compete. They need a superhuman effort from Luck. The Texans here's the conundrum. no Super Bowl host city has ever played in the Super Bowl and the home team, is usually pretty terrible. I don't see the Texans being terrible, but they won't be Super Bowl bound. Expected order of finish

  1. Texans
  2. Colts
  3. Jaguars
  4. Titans
AFC West  - This division houses the Broncos, so I will start there. Their offense is handed over to a second year 7th rounder. Will he be good? time will tell. All the pressure is off of him because they have a pretty great defense. The Chargers,  the annual "I have Potential, but suck when it counts" is in this division as well. They have issues on both sides of the ball. Will their problems be solved? Probably not. Philippina Rivers will need to have an ALL PRO season to rescue them because the Raiders are going to be super tough in this division. Trust me. That defense is going to be bananas. Lest we forget about the Chiefs honestly this is probably the second toughest division in the AFC because the Broncos, Chargers, and Chiefs all have potential to be 10 win teams. This is not a lie. Expected order of finish

  1. Chiefs
  2. Raiders
  3. Broncos
  4. Chargers
Wild Card Teams - Raiders, Bengals

I think this is the year the Raiders hit the big time and make a playoff comeback.

NFC East - Sure the Cowboys have some key pieces back, but they are once again missing Tony Romo. That guy can't stay healthy. However, Dak Prescott has impressed. He's a rookie. But he's no Russell Wilson. Giants improved in every way possible. I mean, look at them. They are stacked on defense. Redskins as well. They improved parts of their defense, but they let a good runner in Alfred Morris get away. The Eagles had the biggest head scratcher moments of the offseason. Both their highly touted QB and RB from last season, gone. Rookie QB that doesn't have to look over his shoulder. Well, expected order of finish

  1. Giants
  2. Redskins
  3. Cowboys
  4. Eagles
NFC North - A division that could have a few winners in it. Lets eliminate the Lions  first off. They are just a train wreck in NFL uniforms. A 6-10 campaign is within reach. The Vikings with Bridgewater would have been good. With Bradford, they are at best 8-8. He's not a good QB and the fact that people keep trading for him makes him believe he's elite. As much as I hate to admit this, DaBears could push for the division. I don't trust Cutler but they have a shot to push the Packers. As long as Aaron Is around my money is on the Packers. Expected order of finish.
        1. Packers
        2. Bears
        3. Vikings
        4. Lions

NFC South - Panthers are still the toast of the division. I mean they lost the Super Bowl but this division is choppy at best. The Falcons are the Bengals of this division. Always lots of promise, falls flat in the end. They will be a 10 win team but no playoffs. The Saints I don't know what to say. They won't be good. Which leaves the Buccaneers  as the team most likely to make a bigger improvement record wise. Expected order of finish.

       1. Panthers
       2. Buccaneers
       3. Falcons
       4. Saints

NFC West- well. This is your money division at least two teams are. Let's start with the Rams who will be no better than 6-10. Then move to the 49ers and they are 7-9. Now that leaves the Seahawks who are just loaded and the Cardinals. Much like last year the latter two will be beating teams routinely. One of them will be Super Bowl bound. But who...Expected order of finish

    1. Seahawks
    2. Cardinals
    3. 49ers
    4. Rams

Wildcard teams - Cardinals, Bears

NFL offensive ROY - Ezekiel Elliot
NFL defensive ROY - (if he plays) Joey Bosa
NFL MVP - Aaron Rodgers
NFL POY - Antonio Brown
NFL defensive POY - JJ Watts

Super bowl LI - My pick. Cardinals vs Steelers. How I came to this conclusion? Well, Tom Brady missing 4 games, I think overall hurts the Patriots. the Steelers, a few suspensions here and there doesn't matter. They have a very good team, in a brutal division. They will get home field advantage. The Cardinals, will go as a wild card team. They will lose the division but they will eventually prevail. They have a team built on both sides of the ball. Overall, I think the Cardinals get their first Super Bowl win.

Power Rankings
Top 5:
1. Seahawks
2. Cardinals
3. Steelers
4. Patriots
5. Bengals

Bottom 5:
32. Browns
31. 49ers
30. Saints
29. Chargers
28. Rams

Week 1 Action

Thursday Sept 8

Panthers vs Broncos - A rematch of the Super bowl, but obviously two different teams. The Panthers let a lot of good players just walk away. The Broncos lost a Hall of Fame QB, and now have a journeyman QB. The Panthers have a good offense and a defense that could challenge Siemen. I fully expect a different turnout than the Super Bowl. Panthers 21, Broncos 13

Sunday Sept 11

Green Bay at Jacksonville - Look, The Packers are going to be a great team, but I have a feeling this Jacksonville team is going to be one of those teams that competes every week and also wins games they aren't supposed to. Will it be this week? I doubt it, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do. Packers 24, Jaguars 20

Bills at Ravens -   I don't know what to make of this Bills team. They have a lot of talent, and a lot of suspensions. They need consistent QB play. Flacco coming off the injury, will be interesting to watch. I think the Bills squeak by. Bills 20, Ravens 17

Bears at Texans - Osweiller's first go at QB for the Texans. They have one of the best receivers in the game, and a defense that is just lights out crazy. The Bears have John Fox at coach and that's a team that always improves. I don't think the Bears will win, but they will show us what they are capable of this season. Texans 27, Bears 20

Browns at Eagles -  Look RG3 is not the Cleveland savior, but he will play better than the rookie across the way. The Eagles have so many questions about their team, it's crazy to think they will be competitive. Cleveland will start off 1-0. Browns 31, Eagles 13

Buccaneers at Falcons -  I think the Falcons always start out good, and then fade away. It would be nice to see them actually sustain a good season for once. I think the Buccaneers are capable of putting up some points this season. They won't win this game. Falcons will squeak by Falcons 27 Bucs 24

Vikings at Titans - I am intrigued to see how Sam Bradford plays on such a short turnaround. Of Course, they still have AP, but that offense is going to be relying on him a lot. The Titans, well they have weapons, but it's like a puzzle and you're missing a main piece. They are a young team, but I give them another season before they are really decently competitive. Vikings 34, Titans 24

Bengals at Jets - Best game of the week. The Jets have potential to always be good, but the Bengals are. They just suck in the playoffs. I think the defense for both teams is very very good. The Bengals will need to rely heavily on the Ginger Avenger to win it. Bengals 17, Jets 13

Raiders at Saints - Look, I'm for the Raiders because I believe they will be a dominant team. I don't think the Saints will be good. AT. ALL.  Raiders 35, Saints 13

Chargers at Chiefs - Chargers. Oh Chargers. So much potential. So much terribleness. Chiefs should just roll them. Chiefs 41, Chargers 20

Dolphins at Seahawks -  If any of you are expecting the Dolphins to
   A. Fly across the country and be competitive
   B. Beat the Seahawks
   C. Be Competitive in that environment
Please sit down. This will be a preview of what the Seahawks will do to many teams. Seahawks 38, Dolphins 20

Lions at Colts - I expect the Lions to be as competitive as Simba was when he was trying to roar in the Lion King. The Colts should drop some points. Colts 31, Lions 10

Giants at Cowboys - Cowboys have a terrible defense. The ONLY thing that kept them competitive was Tony Romo. I don't expect them to be good against the Giants. They will put up about 14 points while the Giants score in droves. Giants 34, Cowboys 17

Patriots at Cardinals - We are going to this game and IF Brady was playing, I'd pick them. I fully expect the Cardinals to show why I picked them to be in the Super Bowl. They are stacked on both sides of the ball. If Palmer stays healthy, they will be a dominant team. Cardinals 28, Patriots 17

Monday Sept 12th

Steelers at Redskins - The Steelers are good. They have a stacked team. The Redskins, even with questions at QB with Kirk Cousins, could be a good sleeper team, but until we see if Kirk can handle the expectations, I fully expect to see the Steelers come out and execute some plays. Steelers 27, Redskins 17

Rams at 49ers  -  This is basically a throw away game, which is why it's the last game of week 1. The Rams could be competitive, but they have a Rookie QB. The 49ers have so many questions that it is hard to figure they can be a good team. Rams are better. Rams 24, 49ers 14

Happy Week 1!
