NFL Week 13

NFL WEEK 13

Notes:
1. The Saints are insanely good.
2. The Cardinals and Raiders and Jaguars, oh my! They are bad.
3. The Browns have won more games this season than the last 3 seasons combined.
4. slow down, Cowboys. You're good, but not that good.
5. The inevitable Chargers/Chiefs showdown is going to be a really good one.
6. The Texans, after starting 0-3, are 8-3. 8 game win streak and one of the not so mentioned teams in the league...
7. Packers, gonna miss them playoffs...

Thursday November 29

Saints at Cowboys - look, Cowboys fans, as much as you want to believe you're going to win or be competitive tonight, the Cowboys defense is not good enough to keep up with this Saints defense. this is going to be a beatdown. Saints 41, Cowboys 20

Sunday December 2

Broncos at Bengals - What happened to the Bengals. Another great start and now, well they are just going to miss the playoffs. Broncos seem to be finding a groove, and should smack this Bengals team down. Broncos 27, Bengals 9

Cardinals at Packers  - Cardinals are terrible. I fully expect the Packers to drop a 35 spot on them. Packers 38, Cardinals 9

Colts at Jaguars - colts have quietly made a formidable comeback from a crappy start, and now they get to go to Jacksonville where a terrible Jaguars team who won't be going to the playoffs, away. Colts should gallop past them. Colts 31, Jaguars 17

Ravens at Falcons  - If Lamar Jackson plays QB, on that turf, dude is going to rack up some numbers. Ravens 34, Falcons 20

Bears at Giants  - Bears, cause the Giants are B-a-d. Bears 31, Giants 19

Bills at Dolphins  - At least thought that the Dolphins would put it together and make a push for the playoffs this year, but they have taken several steps back. The Bills, well no one assumed anything with them. They are bad. They have been for years. Time to do a complete overhaul in both cities. Dolphins 17, Bills 10

Rams at Lions  - Lions are limping into this at a time when the Rams are just dropping points on teams like a short order cook does with pancakes. So, sorry Lions, you about to get beatdown. Rams 44, Lions 13

Browns at Texans - No matter how much confidence Baker Mayfield may have, the Browns are not good enough to win this week. Texans take a step closer to winning the division. Texans 34, Browns 17

Panthers at Buccaneers - No way the Panthers catch the Saints, so the Panthers have to aim for a wildcard, but they are so inconsistent that it's tough to fathom them making the playoffs, at all. This is a trap game, they lose, they pretty much are going to be hoping for a lot of scenarios to happen for them to make the playoffs. I think the Bucs take one at home. Buccaneers 20, Panthers 19

Chiefs at Raiders -  Chiefs gonna score 50. Chiefs 52, Raiders 13

Jets at Titans  - Titans won't make the playoffs, neither will the Jets, but the Titans can possibly squeeze in if they win games they are supposed to win. such at this one. Titans 24, Jets 10

49ers at Seahawks - Seahawks should win, by a lot. Seahawks 31, 49ers 7

Vikings at Patriots  - earlier this season, I could've saw this as a potential Super Bowl game, but both teams are ho-hum. I would never count the Patriots out, but the Vikings, they seem to have lost a step from last season. Both will make the playoffs, but the Vikings aren't going to steal one on the road this week. Patriots 27, Vikings 19

Chargers at Steelers -Is this the old Chargers that can't win on the road? Not this season, but, they won't beat the Steelers at home. Steelers 30, Chargers 17

Monday December 3rd

Redskins at Eagles -  Eagles can get back to .500 with this game, and should be able to beat a lowly, without a true QB, Redskins team. Eagles 21, Redskins 13

Thursday, November 22, 2018

NFL Week 12

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Thursday 3 games!

Bears at Lions - interesting because both starting QBs might be out. But, the Bears defense is stout and gonna knock the Lions down, no matter who plays QB. Bears 27, Lions 13

Redskins at Cowboys - Alex Smith suffered a gruesome injury, and they get colt mccoy who has been good in mop up duty over the years. Cowboys have had some good wins, but still not convinced they are good to win. redskins 24, cowboys 20.

Falcons at Saints - saints gonna once again score 40. Saints 42, falcons 34

Sunday!

Jaguars at Bills - maybe the Jaguars rebound, but their season is virtually over. Won’t be a playoff run. Should be able to at least get a win. But gonna be a housecleaning in Jacksonville this winter. Jaguara  34, Bills 20

Cardinals at Chargers - Chargers gonna strike the cardinals down. Chargers 41,Cardinals 17

Steelers at broncos - top offense vs a top defense. Problem is  the broncos offense won’t be on the field long enough, and those long Steelers drives will kill the Broncos. Steelers 27, Broncos 19

Packers at Vikings - Gonna be a good duel. Neither team looks playoff bound. Thought the Vikings would capitalize on that run last year, but nope. They Jaguar’Ed it. Oh well. pack by a field goal. packers 24, Vikings 21

49ers at Buccaneers - Bucs easily. buccaneers 27, 49ers 9

Patriots at Jets - I don’t see the Jets putting up a fight. Patriots 42, Jets 13

Giants at Eagles - there’s a reason no NFC East team has won back to back division titles in 15 years. The Eagles are proving it now.  Eagles should rebound , this week. Eagles 31, Giants 24

Raiders at Ravens - easy there raiders. One win in a while doesn’t make you a good team. Ravens gonna douse your hopes. Ravens 31, Raiders 17

Seahawks at Panthers - panthers get a close home win. panthers 31, Seahawks 27

Browns at Bengals - BROWNS HAHA browns 27, Bengals 24

Dolphins at Colts - colts lookin good. Not enough to make the playoffs but they look good. Andrew Luck hasn’t been sacked in 215 snaps. So he could have a big game. Colts 34 , Dolphins 19

Monday

Titans at Texans - if the Titans win, they could run the table and take the division. Won’t happen. Texans are really good. Texans 27, Titans 20

Thursday, November 15, 2018

NFL Week 11

Thoughts from Week 10

1. Both the Chiefs and Rams are heading for one of those "Break the scoreboard" games. Neither really plays defense all that well....
2. I think that anyone should take a long hard look at the Saints. They are really good and dropping points at an alarming rate.
3. The blueprint to beat the Patriots, has been unfurled by the Titans. That was a dominant performance.
4. Just lose, Baby. (Raiders).
5. Cowboys fans (myself included) don't get your hopes up. They still are bad.
6. Ever since big mouth Jalen Ramsey proclaimed all his nonsense about other QB's, the Jaguars have been getting beat down.

Thursday
Packers at Seahawks - You know, before the season I didn't think the Seahawks would have a losing record, that has changed. They are not good. And sure, they put up points, but when you let nearly half of your defense go, that is going to be problematic. Packers, well, they aren't much better, but I truly believe that they are better offensively and slightly better defensively than the Seahawks. Packers 34, Seahawks 17

Sunday

Cowboys at Falcons - Cowboys have that false sense of bravado. One win, against another mediocre team, does not make you good. It makes you slightly better than mediocre. The Cowboys have a lot of issues on defense, and most likely won't be able to keep up with the Falcons offense. Falcons 27, Cowboys 14

Steelers at Jaguars -  I hope the Steelers score 40. Steelers 42, Jaguars 17
The watch Golf Instead Game
Raiders at Cardinals  - Both teams are bad. Raiders are just the worst. Cardinals 16, Raiders 9

Broncos at Chargers - You know, the Broncos aren't terrible. Their offense is wonky, but the defense is good. Chargers on the other hand, well they have their usual start good, fizzle out feel to them. This is a trap game for them. They best get to work, and pound the football, or they are going to lose. Broncos with the upset. Broncos 20, Chargers 17

Bengals at Ravens - Bengals started out good, but they  haven't shown much. Same with the Ravens. AFC North games are always tough, this one will be no different. Ravens 24, Bengals 20

Panthers at Lions  - Panthers should rebound and get a win this week. Lions are certainly in need of a rebuild. Panthers 27, Lions  10

Titans at Colts  - Titans, if they can build on last week, can destroy the Colts. Titans 34, Colts 13

Buccaneers at Giants - Start Fitzpatrick, get the offense going, throttle the Giants, who themselves are heading for a rebuild. Bucs 31, Giants 19

Texans at Redskins  - An intriguing matchup because both are division leaders. Redskins are getting it done with offense and a slightly improved defense. Another week of practice with Thomas, and the Texans offense should be good to go this week. Should be a back and forth game. Texans 24, Redskins 20

Eagles at Saints - Saints gonna continue to rack up points like its a Madden game. Saints 44, Eagles 27

Vikings at Bears -  Going against my better judgement but DA BEARS, Bears 27, Vikings 20

Monday

Chiefs at Rams  - Chiefs and Rams are gonna be, as the kids say, lit.  The over is 64, but I'm gonna say Chiefs 34, Rams 27

NFL Week 9

Thoughts from Week 8:

1. As much as I want the Browns to succeed, that was a shitshow. They needed to clean house after basically a combined 1-31 seasons.
2. Lots of receivers traded...
3. Chiefs, if they can tighten up on defense, might be hoisting that Lombardi.
4. Jaguars, well you punched your one way ticket to being at home this offseason.
5. That Rams team, still looking good.
6. Not many are talking about the saints, but they are quietly one of the best teams in the league.
7. NFL should reconsider this whole, give every team a primetime game. Bills. Cardinals. Raiders. Browns, suuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

Quick Picks:

Raiders at 49ers: Raiders

Bears at Bills: Bears

Chiefs at Browns: Chiefs by 45

Jets at Dolphins: Dolphins

Lions at Vikings: Upset Alert----- Lions

Falcons at Redskins: Falcons

Bucs at Panthers: Another upset------Buccaneers

Steelers at Ravens: Steelers

Texans at Broncos: Texans, plus Thomas who just got traded from the Broncos to the Texans has a 3 TD game.

Chargers at Seahawks: Chargers

Rams at Saints: A third upset ----- Saints

Packers at Patriots: Packers...

Titans at Cowboys; Titans

NFL Week 8

Thoughts about week 7:

1. The Amari Cooper trade by the Cowboys is a good one, but does nothing to really address the problem...their defense. They have guys returning from suspension, but their defense needs some quality cornerbacks/safeties.
2. Honestly, if the Chiefs can tighten some things on defense, they are going to be hoisting the Lombardi trophy. That Mahomes kid is about as good as a second year QB and beyond can be. Chiefs  are gonna get tested with the Broncos defense, but they will prevail.
3. Jaguars, what in the hell happened to you.
4. Quietly, the Lions have evened their record.
5. It's okay to tank, Cardinals.
6. The NFC East is controlled by the Redskins, and they could run away with a weak, weak division. There is a reason no team has one the NFC East two season in a row dating back to the early 2000's. Consistency.
7. Raiders, see number 5. You have three first rounders next year.
8. The LeVeon Bell saga continues.
9. Giants, see 5. You also, 49ers.
10. Quietly, the Rams are 7-0. And playing great. If it's a Rams/Chiefs Super Bowl, that would be pretty cool.

Bye Week Teams: Falcons, Cowboys, Titans, Chargers

Week 7

Thursday Night!

(FOX/NFL) Dolphins at Texans -  The Dolphins are going to be without Tannehill for another week, but seemingly Brock Osweiller is playing well enough right now that they shouldn't have to worry. He gets a chance to play against his old team in Primetime. I don't think the Texans are a good team. Same record for both, but the Texans keep having some defensive lapses. Osweiller tries to do to much, and well...Texans 24, Dolphins 20

Sunday October 28th

(NFL) Eagles at Jaguars - LONDON BABY. Hey Jaguars, you are getting torched by some mediocre teams. Thought you'd turn the corner this season, but you haven't. You did not build on your AFC Championship game from last year. Instead, you have regressed. Oh, you too, Eagles. not a good team. But, something about London where teams play extremely great entertaining games. I think this one is going to be a shootout. Eagles 31, Jaguars 27

(CBS) Jets at Bears - The Bears, if their offense plays much better, can still contend for the division. Defense is keeping them above water. I think they are going to get after that Rookie QB for the Jets. Bears 27, Jets 13

(FOX) Buccaneers at Bengals - I am still not sure about the buoyant Bengals. Up one week, down another. We know the Bucs can score, the problem is can the Bengals stop them. I think this is is a nope. Bucs 20, Bengals 13

(FOX) Seahawks (3-3) at Lions (3-3) - The Seahawks and Lions are about as mediocre as their records would indicate. a Meh game. Seahawks 27, Lions 20

(CBS) Broncos at Chiefs - Best game of the day. Fully expect a defensive battle to start, and the Chiefs to have a second half onslaught. Chiefs 34, Broncos 20

(FOX) Redskins at Giants  - Sorry, Giants fans. Your team is horrible. Like, vying for first pick horrible. Redskins 30, Giants 14

(CBS) Browns at Steelers  - I want the Browns to win, or tie, since that's already happened, but I still don't think they have enough to get over the hump this week. Steelers 17, Browns 9

(CBS) Ravens at Panthers  - Panthers are 3-0 at home, and playing good at home. Road, not so much. But, they get a Ravens team who is 2-2 on the road. The Ravens defense is as good as it gets. Number one. A 15th ranked Panthers offense. I think the Ravens can shut down Cam Newton, and win a close game. Ravens 13, Panthers 10

(CBS) Colts at Raiders  - Just Tank, Baby. Colts 21, Raiders 13

(FOX) Packers at Rams - Rams are the only undefeated team. The Packers defense is suspect. Big Play prone. The Rams offense is top 5 ranked in several categories. I think the Packers are in over their head this week. Rams 27, Packers 13

(FOX) 49ers at Cardinals - Someone has to win this week. Both teams are just, worse than the other.  Cardinals 17, 49ers 9

(NBC) Saints at Vikings  - Saints are killing it on offense.Drew Brees is as good as he's ever been. Vikings finally seem to have found a groove. This is one of those "who has the ball last" type of games. we could see a scoreboard fiesta. Vikings 34, Saints 31

Monday October 29th

(ESPN) Patriots at Bills  - Bills you get your one time to shine...and catch a beatdown on Monday night. Patriots 38, Bills 10

Thursday, October 18, 2018

NFL Week 7

Thoughts:
1. If there is a team that is more up and down than the Jags, I don't want to know about them.
2. Sure, the Chiefs lost, BUT, they played pretty great. It's their defense that will be their achilles heel.
3. Tom Brady, still got it.
4. If it's  a close game, and Aaron Rodgers has the ball, you done lost son. That guy, is clutch.
5. Still not sure which is the real Cowboys team.
6. Raiders, enjoying that 10 year contract for Gruden, lol.
7. Maybe the Chargers fans are hibernating, because right now, their  home games are pretty empty. Perhaps putting two teams in LA was not *checks notes* wise.
8. Rams are currently the toast of the league. I mean, the Chiefs still are, but the Rams are playing excellent football.

Week 7
Thursday!

Broncos at Cardinals - Both teams are pretty bad. Broncos have lost 4 straight. Cardinals are 0-3 at home. Broncos will put it all together tonight, because the cardinals are worst than they are. Broncos 27, Cardinals 17

Sunday
6:30a.m.
Titans at Chargers - This "home game" for the chargers is in London, so of course the stands will be full. I think The Chargers will win. Sure they have a 4-2 record, their defense is playing great, but right now, the Chargers need a real home. Sorry, but Titans will actually win this close game. Titans 24, Chargers 20

Patriots at Bears - I really think this is going to be one of those games where Tom gets banged up. That Bears defense, is insane. Bears 21, Patriots 17

Bills at Colts - Bad vs Bad. It's a home game, so I will say the Colts will get a W. Colts 31, Bills 20

Lions at Dolphins - I wouldn't have thought that the Dolphins would be 4-2 and near the top of their division. But, here we are. Lions are right where they should be. Bad, heading toward a top 5 pick. Dolphins 24, Lions 20

Vikings at Jets  - I thought the Vikes were going to be Super Bowl bound, but they seem to have regressed from last season. Jets, well they are still locked for a top 12 pick. That defense is about to harass the rookie. Vikings 34, Jets 27

Panthers at Eagles - Both teams need a win. Both teams should be better, but they really struggle on defense. Key letdowns late in the game. It's crazy how bad they are. It's a home game. Eagles should get after Newton. Eagles 17, Panthers 10

Browns at Buccaneers - I'm going to go out on a limb, and say the Browns steal one on the road. Browns 20, Bucs 14

Texans at Jaguars -  Really thought the Jaguars would be at least 5-1, but the defense has been exposed as subpar. Which, is hilarious, right Jalen Ramsey. They should correct the course, and pick up a much needed win. Jaguars 28, Texans 20

Saints at Ravens - Fresh off the bye week, the Saints should be well rested. Still worry about the defense, but with Drew Brees slinging that rock, they should be fine. Saints 34, Ravens 17

Rams at 49ers - I'll save you all the trouble...Rams 37, 49ers 9

Cowboys at Redskins - Still don't think  the real Cowboys are gonna show up. They haven't put two good games back to back in a while. Redskins 19, Cowboys 13

Bengals at Chiefs - I fully expect the Chiefs to rebound, and score at least 35. Chiefs 38, Bengals 20

Monday!

Giants at Falcons - How bad are the Giants. Real bad. Teammates and owners snipping at each other in the media. Offense sucks. Defense is bad. Falcons should be able to get by. Falcons 27, Giants 10

Thursday, October 11, 2018

NFL Week 5

Stupid me, typed up week 4, never published it. I am pretty dumb at times.

THURSDAY NIGHT-

(FOX/NFL) Colts (1-3) at Patriots (2-2) - Never fails that the patriots start out slow, and then build momentum and next thing you know they are in the Super Bowl. Will they make it this season? Probably not. But, they are true to form building momentum. Should beat the lowly Colts. Patriots 31, Colts 13

Sunday

(CBS) Titans (3-1) at Bills (1-3) - Titans. Cause the the Bills are just, bad. Titans 27, Bills 9

(CBS) Dolphins (3-1) at Bengals (3-1) - Here's an interesting matchup. The Dolphins got beat down by the Patriots, but prior to that, the Dolphins were having a decent season. Good enough to make the playoffs, not in the AFC. Bengals, well they are in a dogfight for the division, so if they want to keep pace with the Ravens, this is a must win. Bengals 20, Dolphins 17

(CBS) Ravens (3-1) at Browns (1-2-1) - I...I'm going to go out on a limb, and say the Browns steal a game this week. Just a gut feeling. Browns 24, Ravens 20

(Packers (2-1-1) at Lions (1-3)  - Surprisingly every team in this division is looking up at the Bears. If the Packers want to catch the Bears, they need to beat the lowly, lack of defense, Lions. Packers 27, Lions 17

Game of the Week

(FOX) Jaguars (3-1) at Chiefs (4-0) - The Jaguars and the Chiefs are the best game this week. I am intrigued because both teams have good defenses, and surprisingly amazing offenses. So it should be a good matchup. I don't think the Chiefs are going to lose, cause they are the best in this matchup. Chiefs 21, Jaguars 20

(CBS) Broncos (2-2) at Jets (1-3) - Broncos will rebound and smack down the lowly Jets. Broncos 35, Jets 10

(FOX) Falcons (1-3) at Steelers (1-2-1) - I want the steelers to be good, but they are not good. The record of the Falcons isn't really indicative of the kind of team they are. They can beat the Steelers, and they should. Falcons 24, Steelers 20

(FOX) Giants (1-3) at Panthers (2-1) - Panthers should steal a home game this week. Panthers 14, Giants 10

(CBS) Raiders (1-3) at Chargers (2-2) - For everyone that wants the Raiders to be good, they aren't. They have no offense. Their defense is suspect. They get an Old Phillip Rivers, and could win the game, but to be honest, Gruden isn't that really good of a coach. Chargers 27, Raiders 20

(FOX) Vikings (1-2-1) at Eagles (2-2) - Why the Eagles so...so...subpar. For a Super Bowl team, they aren't impressive. I mean, for a team that had world class defense, the Vikings aren't either. So, Could be a toss up. Eagles 23, Vikings 17

(FOX) Cardinals (0-4) at 49ers (1-3) - Worst game of the week. 49ers 17, Cardinals 9

(FOX) Rams (4-0) at Seahawks (2-2) - Why the Rams trying to become the Greatest Show on Turf, again. Like, they are beating teams, good teams. The Seahawks, well, I'm not really impressed. Still gaping holes, and now they've lost their best defender. I see them getting a beatdown, at home. Rams 37, Seahawks 13

(NBC) Cowboys (2-2) at Texans (1-3) - Cowboys, you're still bad. Texans, well you are equally as bad. Battle of Texas, is just BLAAAAAAH. I mean, i'll watch, but it looks bad. Texans 24, Cowboys 20

Monday

(ESPN) Redskins (2-1) at Saints (3-1) - I think the Saints will try to put up video game numbers. They've had some impressive scoring outbursts, and the Redskins defense is kind of...what's another word for bad. Waaaaay less than good. Saints 34, Redskins 20

Bye Teams Bears, Buccaneers

NFL week 3

Browns vs Jets
I am not surprised by the browns. I am by the jets. But not really by either. The browns have been close to winning, but haven’t managed to get over the hump. I’m all in this week. Not on the browns though, the Jets. Jets 24, Browns 20

Packers vs Redskins
If Rodgers injury details him this week, I can see an opportunistic Redskins team winning.  Thing is, the defense for Green Bay doesn’t generate the pass rush they need. They get in there, but Smith is mobile and doesn’t take that many sacks. I think the Packers win a close one. Packers 17, Redskins 15

Jaguars vs Titans
I’m not gonna lie, the way the Jaguars are playing to start the season, should worry other teams. Because they are only going to get better. Jaguars 31, Titans 17

Broncos Vs Ravens
Did  not think the Broncos would be 2-0. I thought 1 win, maybe. They are getting good okay from both sides of the ball. ravens had a good opening weekend but I don’t see them winning many games.  I think it’s a close game, but surprise, I think the Ravens take it. Ravens 20, Broncos 17

Bears vs Cardinals
Cardinals don’t stand a chance. Bears 41, cardinals 7.

Cowboys vs Seahawks
Very surprised the Seahawks are 0-2. Not that surprised since they traded/let most of their Defense walk. I think the championship window has closed in Seattle. Sure they may win 10 games here and there, but with an up and coming Rams team, it’s going to get tougher. Oh Dallas still sucks. Seattle 21,  cowboys 20

Saints vs Falcons
Saints and falcons both have been unimpressive. I thought the Saints would blow the Browns out, nope. I think it’s going to be a shootout. saints 44, falcons 40

Eagles Vs Colts
Why the Eagles look like hot garbage. Like, they will win this week, but overall have been unimpressive. For a super bowl winning team. Yawn. Eagles 24, colts 17

Bills Vs vikings
The Bills are bad. Sorry, Buffalo. Vikings rebound after their tie. Vikings 31, Bills 6

Raiders vs Dolphins
The Raiders are just awful. I don’t think they win a game for a while. Dolphins, rejoice at 3-0 when the game ends. Dolphins 27,Raiders 13

Bengals Vs Panthers
Intriguing matchup. Which Bengals team shows up. The 2-0 good version or the late season bad team. They get a hungry panthers team coming off a loss. Bengals 17, Panthers 7

Giants vs Texans
Neither the Texans or Giants have been impressive. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a third tie Texans 23, Giants 12

Chiefs vs 49ers
Um the Chiefs look like they gonna try to score 40 every week. That Mahomes kid is legit. Chiefs 34, 49ers 20

Chargers vs Rams
Battle of LA and the Rams have looked impressive. chargers, eh. I mean they won a game, but the Rams look to punish trans. Rams 24, Chargers 10

Patriots vs Lions
Former patriots  Def Coordniafor Matt Patricia hosts the  Patriots and his team is bad. They are going to get rocked by Brady coming off the loss to the Jaguars last week. Patriots 33, Lions 17

Steelers vs Buccaneers
So, the Steelers about to be 0-2-1 because the Bucs are pretty good. Buccaneers 27, Steelers 17

Thursday, September 13, 2018

NFL Week 2

Last weeks games 10-5-1

Did not see the Browns tying it. Silver lining, at least they didn't lose.

Thursday September 13th!

(NFL) Ravens (1-0) at Bengals (1-0) - I'll be honest, I thought the Ravens looked spectacular last week. Did not see that coming. I think they were one of the better teams last week. And if the division looks anything like that Browns/Steelers game, watch out, division. Bengals, eh. They won, but whatever. I'm not sold on them. They still have Marvin Lewis as their coach. Ravens 34, Bengals 10

Sunday September 16th

(FOX) Panthers (1-0) at Falcons (0-1) - If the Panthers want to make it to Atlanta in February, they need to beat Atlanta at home. Panthers used the clock to control Dallas, division rivalries are not that lucky. Gonna be a shootout. Falcons 31, Panthers 27

(CBS) Chargers (0-1) at Bills (1-0) - Right where I figured these two would be. Winless. Chargers lack a serious defense, Bills lack everything. I think the Chargers are going to rush that Rookie QB and make him have some Turnovers in his first NFL Start. Chargers 27, Bills 10

(FOX) Vikings (1-0) at Packers (1-0) - The team I think that will win the Super Bowl vs their biggest competition, and they might be with Rodgers. Vikings looked good. Few small things here and there, but they have to get it together and beat a top tier team. Vikings 20, Packers 17

(CBS) Texans (0-1) at Titans (0-1) - Really thought the Titans would take a step forward, but they didn't. More like the old Paula Abdul song, two steps forward, two steps back. They looked bad last week. The Texans, well they lost to the Patriots, no shame in that. They played great. Texans 24, Titans 13

(FOX) Browns (0-0-1) at Saints (0-1) - But for real, what the hell Saints, your defense must've just stayed at home. 48 points. The Browns had every opportunity to lose the game, and they didn't. Gives me hope that they will finish with more than 8 wins this season. Sadly, this won't be one of them. Saints 28, Browns 17

(CBS) Dolphins (1-0) at Jets (1-0) -  I am surprised both teams won. No joke. The Jets looked like, like, like good. Do I expect them to win every game? No, but if that defense plays that way, the Dolphins as well, they could make the division close, unlike any other year that Brady has played. Jets 23, Dolphins 16

(CBS) Chiefs (1-0) at Steelers (0-0-1) - Plain and simple. Chiefs looked great. Steelers better just pay Bell whatever he wants because they aren't going to win many games without him. Chiefs 21, Steelers 17

(FOX) Eagles at Buccaneers (1-0) - Both teams won last week, but I am surprised at the offensive explosion by the Bucs. I mean, Ryan Fitzpatrick really has gone places and compiled impressive stats, so this shouldn't be surprising. I just am surprised. Eagles, okay last week. I don't think they are that good. Will get the W, from their defense. Eagles 20, Bucs 10

(CBS) Colts (0-1) at Redskins (1-0) - Eh, neither team was good. Redskins beat a crappy Cardinals team. Could be a game where you can put it on, take a nap, wait for the crowd to react and then go back to sleep. Redskins 17, Colts 7

(FOX) Cardinals (0-1) at Rams (1-0) - No way the Rams don't drop 35 on them. Rams 38, Cardinals 10

(FOX) Lions at 49ers (0-1)  - Both teams lost. I like the 49ers QB. Stafford of Detroit had a lot of turnovers. He is the sole reason they lost last week. I actually think this will be a high scoring shootout. 49ers 41, Lions 38

(CBS) Raiders (0-1) at Broncos (1-0) - Raiders looked bad in Grudens debut. I'm not sure they don't go 3-13. But, they have lots of picks next years draft. Broncos 24, Raiders 10

(CBS) Patriots at Jaguars (1-0) - Both teams won, and I think this is the best game of the week. I honestly, truly think, the Jaguars are going to steal one at home. Jaguars 24, Patriots 20

(NBC) Giants at Cowboys (0-1) - Giants and Cowboys both suck, lol. Neither has an identity to really speak of. I'll watch, but whatever. I think the Giants are going to own the Cowboys at home. (i am a cowboys fan but their defense is horrendous, and no true wide receivers. Cutting Dez was bad), Giants 27, Cowboys 17

 Monday September 17th

(ESPN) Seahawks at Bears (0-1) - Really thought both teams were going to win, then they had to fall on their achilles heels (Seahawks achilles heel is now their defense, and offense for the Bears), should be an interesting monday nighter, I think the Seahawks keep the bears winless. Seahawks 27, Bears 10

NFL Week 1, Predictions, games, and what not

Another NFL Season is upon us.

Full disclosure, I was very tempted to discontinue this. I haven't been into the NFL as much this year, and I haven't been able to focus on it, but here I am. I will try to give it the ol college try.

I have also started a new blog, where I talk about my family/life/whatnot. You can follow along there. It's called Pound Sign Dad. This week, I talked about our lice breakout.

So, on to week 1. Predictions:

First off, not seeing a repeat in Philly. Not with that giant deadly spider on the loose.Unless he suits up at Defensive End.   Someone stole 40K in insects.

NFL MVP: Aaron Rodgers

Comeback Player of the Year: DeShaun Watson
Offensive Rookie of the Year: Saquon Barkley
Defensive Rookie of the Year: Bradley Chubb
Offensive Player of the Year: Russell Wilson
Defensive Player of the Year: Khalil Mack

Super Bowl Winner: I'm going from left field. Minnesota Vikings over Pittsburgh Steelers

I chose that because the only real thing the Vikings missed last season, was a capable QB. They know have a stout defense and a great QB in Kirk Cousins. Watch. Out.

I'm usually wrong, and most likely will be wrong. But, hey we shall see.

Week 1:

Thursday September 6th:

Falcons at Eagles (NBC) -  The Super Bowl champs are back, with their starting QB. And they look potent. A stronger defense. A strong offense. They could repeat, but hey, repeating is very hard to do in the NFL. They have a big hill to climb with a strong NFC East. They will beat the Falcons, but the lock to win the division, tough to say. Eagles 31, Falcons 20

Sunday September 9th:

Jaguars at Giants (FOX) - An interesting matchup, because I'd like to see how the Jaguars build on their momentum from last season, conversely, I'd like to see how a semi recharged Eli Manning does with an upgraded team and a healthy OBJ. I think the Jaguars have one of the stingiest defenses, and when pressured, Manning has always, always turned the ball over. I like the Jags to steal one on the road. Jaguars 20, Giants 14

Seahawks at Broncos (FOX) - Both teams have questions going into this game. Broncos got a good QB, still a strong defense, but their offensive weapons aren't all that great. The Seahawks, as long as they have Wilson at QB, they are potent. Their defense has been depleted, lot of new faces. So right off the bat, big game for both teams. Seahawks 17, Broncos 10

Redskins at Cardinals (FOX) - Redskins got a new QB and for what it's worth, Alex Smith is actually a good QB. The Cardinals, well they have Sam Bradford, who has yet to really play a full season. Always hurt. This year probably some of the same. Redskins Defense is strong. They should have a good romp of the old Cardinals. Redskins 35, Cardinals 17

Cowboys at Panthers (FOX) - Cowboys, different season, same result. Sure they may make the playoffs, but without ever really upgrading their defense, well 22 years without a Super Bowl is going to happen. Panthers should get a win. Panthers 17, Cowboys 14

Bills at Ravens (CBS) - Neither did much in the offseason to make me think "That's a playoff team." Because in reality, they will both be picking top 12. The Ravens, season after season, have a mediocre offense, and the Bills traded away Tyrod Taylor, so you know, they are all in this season. Ravens 20, Bills 10

Buccaneers at Saints (FOX) - No Jameis Winston at QB, and a hungry Saints team. I think this is going to be the highest scoring game of the day. Saints 41, Bucs 12

Texans at Patriots (CBS) - Know why I am excited for this game? DeShaun Watson. Sure he got hurt last year, but if he can go into the heart of Patriotsland, play a great game, perhaps get a win, it will go a long way in helping this possible playoff team. On the other side, well Tom is Tom, and I think the ol Hoodie is going to come up with a game plan to stop Watson. going to be a close one. Patriots 24, Texans 21

49ers at Vikings (FOX)- Could be looking at two playoff teams here. The 49ers are an unknown wildcard with a full season of a good, young QB. the only question, is the 49ers defense. Will they be able to hold up against a truly potent Minnesota attack? I think that the Vikings are going to win it all, but these games, they have to win. Vikings 27, 49ers 17

Titans at Dolphins (FOX) - Dolphins, all I saw this offseason was hurt, hurt, trade, released. No real additions to make me think they have or will ever close the gap between them and 4th place. The Titans, no real offseason moves, but they still have a good young QB. I think they start the season off with a statement game. Titans 31, Dolphins 7

Bengals at Colts (CBS)  - Seems Luck is back at QB, but like the Cowboys, their defense has not been upgraded much since 2005. Like if anyone thinks the Colts are going to be Super Bowl Contenders, let me tell you about this island I have some land for sale on. The defense is going to be their shoulder injury. Bengals, well, they are okay. No real threat to the AFC. Colts 20, Bengals 17

Steelers at Browns (CBS) - Um, I kinda want to see the Browns win like 9 games this season. They upgraded a lot of positions. They used their cap wisely, and I think they can win 9. The Steelers, well there are some problems with Le'Veon Bell and his lack of showing up. So i am not sure they are going to be great this week. I'm just going to say the Browns are going to win it. Browns 24, Steelers 20

Chiefs at Chargers (CBS) - Chargers suffer the same mindset as the Colts/Cowboys. Lack of defense will continuously kill them. Chiefs are potent. A potential AFC killer if they start to play the way they are designed. Chiefs 21, Chargers 20

Bears at Packers (NBC) - With Khalil Mack joining Chicago and the Packers typically good, this went from a okay maybe I'll watch, to a yeah this is a must watch. I like a healthy Rodgers to wreck havoc, but he has one hell of a defense to face. Packers 17, Bears 7

Monday September 10th

Jets at Lions (ESPN) - We get a chance to see two teams that rebuilt but neither are playoff bound. I want to see what Sam Darnold can do in New York. The Lions defense though, should be able to force the rookie into some mistakes, and the Lions offense can make them pay.  Lions 27. Jets 10

Rams at Raiders (ESPN) - I like what the Rams are doing. They are building a good young team, and in a year or so, they could be Super Bowl bound. The Raiders, well this is Grudens second go round. They've already traded their best defender, Mack, and their offense lost some pieces. All eyes are on Gruden. I think the Rams, steal one on the road. Rams 20, Raiders 14

Super Bowl LII

When 6:30pm EST

Today's game Is Between the Eagles and the Patriots. A journeyman QB in Nick FoLes, and who wIll turn out to bE the G.O.A.T., Tom Brady.  They will haVe you believE that the Eagles can NOT wIN this game. They will tell you that they are outmatched. Outcoached. Outmanned.

Don't listen.

THE EAGLES can win this game. They have a rock solid defense. A pretty good offense. A QB who doesn't make that many mistakes. A guy, who honestly is a proven winner. This same Eagles team traded him to the Rams a few years back for Sam Bradford, who is now with the Vikings and bound to be a free agent. Foles can play. Like he's a formidable backup.

The Problem is, can he beat a Patriots team that has won 2 of the last 3 Super Bowls?

I am sorry also, since I met my wife, who is a huge Patriots fan, they have won 2 out of 3 Super Bowls. I feel the only way to break this curse is a divorce. haha

Some of my favorite people are Eagles fans.

I happen to hate both teams. But, I like the Patriots because of my wife. And I still hate the Eagles. So there's that. The thing is though, look at THIS eagles team. They are built for the next few years.  If Wentz was at QB, no doubt they would win decidedly. I do think they can win, and it will be a close game.

But Tom Brady, is the G.O.A.T. He finds a way to win. Every year. You think they are done?

Look at 2015, the Go ahead TD against the Seahawks. The Defense wins it for them on the goal line.
Down 28-3 in the Super Bowl Last year? No problem. Catch these hands, yo!
Look at the AFC Championship Game 2018, the Jaguars are outplaying them, Tom is like, nah dog, let me show you how cool I am.

I'll see these, in closing. No matter when Tom leaves, the Patriots will be in the basement for a few decades. So they are going to maximize this opportunity, and beat an up and coming Eagles team, like they did the Jaguars. The Eagles will soar, it unfortunately will not be this year. Patriots 27, Eagles 20.

Conference Championships

Conference Championships

AFC- Jaguars at Patriots - People will have you believe that the Patriots are supposed to go, I am not one of those. Sure, they will most likely win the game, but to look past the Jaguars, a really good team, would be bad. They utterly destroyed the Steelers in Pittsburgh, twice. The game last week was close, but not really. Look at the numbers. The Jags scored at will.

the Patriots on the other hand, well they did what they are supposed to do. Win games. Beat teams that are not in their league. Brady looked good, as usual. Will they win?

I am not so sure this time. If they can not stop the running game, Fournette will have a career day. I honestly, and I hate to say this, but I won't be seeing my New England relatives this week, but I think an upset is in the making. Jaguars 27, Patriots 24

NFC - Vikings at Eagles - Lets be real. The Vikings winning last week was a fluke. I mean they played a great game, but if you play that last play 1,000 times in a row, you couldn't replicate that even once. Now, with that said, the Vikings will be the first to host a Super Bowl, and play in it. The Eagles, could not score a TD last week, and against this defense, with that QB, they don't stand a chance. Vikings 27, Eagles 17

Divisional PLAYOFFS, Yo

NFL Divisional Playoffs

Saturday

(NBC) Falcons at Eagles -  Records, this time of year, mean nothing. You can be a one seed, and still lose. It happens all the time. The thing is, the Eagles can, and probably will lose. I wouldn't say that if their number one QB was healthy, or if Foles wasn't prone to untimely turnovers. The Falcons, this week, are the better team. They can go into Filthadelphia, and win. I fully expect that outcome. Falcons 24, Eagles 17

(CBS) Titans at Patriots- Now the flip side of that, the Titans, no matter the record, are not better than the Patriots. I would be shocked if the Patriots lost. All of football would be shocked. Up would be down. White would be black. Shocked. Sorry, we won't remember these Titans. Patriots 31, Titans 7

Sunday

(CBS) Jaguars at Steelers - The Steelers are the only team I think that could take down the Patriots. This is a game, where earlier in the season, the Jaguars destroyed the Steelers. Will it happen again? No. The Steelers are much better later in the season. Bortles is going to prove why he is probably done in Jacksonville. Steelers 20, Jaguars 7

(FOX) Saints at Vikings - These two kicked off the season when Adrian Peterson was playing for the Saints and the Vikings were like, nah homie, you aren't having a revenge game here. Since then, both teams marched through their division. Saints found the air game, the Vikings became a well rounded team. I want the Vikings to win, but I think the Saints will be sneak by them. Saints 23, Vikings 20

Wild Card Round

Last Week 8-8. Season 161-106-1

Wild Card Saturday

Titans at Chiefs - Look, the Titans barely made it in. But we know that any team can get hot. The Chiefs, well they seemed to turn it around toward the end of the season. The game is going to come down to defense. Both offenses can get hot, but the Chiefs have a lot more weapons to work with. They should be able to Control the clock, wear the defense down, and leave with a W. Chiefs 27, Titans 17

Bills at Jaguars - The Jags are in the playoffs for the first time in a decade, the Bills, double that. One of these teams will be one and done, and I have a feeling it will be the Bills. They barely made it in, and they are the weakest team in the playoffs. The Jaguars, if they hope to have a chance, get Fournette going early, and make sure Bortles stays in his lane. Jaguars 20, Bills 10

Wild Card Sunday

Falcons at Rams - Last years darling vs this years darling. The Rams have the defense and offense to beat the Falcons. The Falcons, well they have to keep that defensive line from dominating or it's going to be a long day. The Rams need to get Gurley going, and keep the pressure off of Goff. I think this is going to be the best game of the weekend. Rams 31, Falcons 28

Panthers at Saints - The Panthers lost both games to the Saints this season, so I have no reason to believe that they will not win. Of the 20 times since 1970 that teams have met 3 times and one team is 2-0, that 2-0 team has one 13 times. I don't see these Panthers winning. They don't have the defense to hang with the Saints offense. Saints 34, Panthers 17

Happy Wild Card Saturday!
