NFL Week 12 - Thanksgiving!

Week 12 is here, and it's Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving!

Thoughts from Week 11

1. The biggest surprising loss from last week to me, was the Chiefs losing to the lowly Bucs.
2. The Raiders, two years ago 0-10 at this point in the season. This season 8-2. My what a turnaround they've had.
3. Keep being you, Browns.
4. The Lions lead their division by a game over the Vikings and two games over the Packers. Didn't see that coming.
5. Cardinals, are roasted. They are just bad. Three game lead for Seattle in the division. The Two wildcard teams have 2 game leads. Not insurmountable, but with the way they are playing, they will be home in 5 weeks.
6. Titans had a golden opportunity to make themselves relevant this season, squandered it.
7. Texans, too. They could've put that division away, but nope. Maybe Osweiler isn't the long term answer. Sure, barely a season. But he makes some stupid decisions.
8. Patriots still own that division.
9. Dolphins are impressive. They have come from behind four times in their streak right now.
10. I am impressed by the Cowboys, not impressed enough to believe they will win in the playoffs, but they have built a strong foundation for the future.

Coaches with their ass to the fire (no change from last week).

1. Jeff Fisher
2. Mike McCoy
3. Gus Bradley
4. Hue Jackson- Survive an 0-16 season. I doubt it.
5. Mike McCarthy

Last Week 9-5

1. Seattle
2. Dallas
3. New England
4. Oakland
5. New York Giants

Bottom 5 Teams

30. Jaguars
29. Bears
28. Panthers

Thursday November 24th

TRIPLE HEADER ON THANKSGIVING!

(CBS) Vikings (6-4) at Lions (6-4) - The Vikings got a much needed win last week against a lowly Cardinals team, a game they had to win. Now they get a Lions team who plays like they just don't care. I like this tradition of Lions playing on Thanksgiving. They play hard, and Stafford has a primetime game to show his skills. The Vikings better score early, or else Stafford will own them. Vikings 24, Lions 20

(FOX) Washington (6-3-1)  at Cowboys (9-1) - I hate Washington. I am surprised by the play of the Cowboys. Week to week, they find a way to win. The Rookies, are going to carry this team for many years to come. They should squeak out a win agains their division rivals. Cowboys 27, Washington 24

(NBC) Steelers (5-5) at Colts (5-5) - I didn't think the Steelers would be this mediocre at this point through the season. I expected them to be at least 8-2. The Colts, well with that defense, is about right. They get a Steelers team that is ready to showcase the full talent now that most are healthy. Should be a high scoring affair. Steelers 34, Colts 24

Sunday November 27th

(CBS) Titans (5-6) at Bears (2-8) - The Bears are so bad. They will be in the market for a QB this offseason/draft. The Titans, well they are not as bad as their record indicates. They should drop some points on this Bears team that has already started hibernating. Titans 38, Bears 10

(CBS) Jaguars (2-8) at Bills (5-5) - Both teams are about where they should be. The Jaguars, for all the offseason hype of the upgrades, is woefully bad. The Bills, well they too are subpar. They won't make the playoffs, not playing the up and down style they play. They should knock off the Jaguars. Bills 31, Jaguars 13

(CBS)  Bengals (3-6-1) at Ravens (5-5) - The Bengals, where to start. Bad. Terrible. No chance of playoffs. Ravens, outside chance. This is a must win game for them. Ravens 24, Bengals 16

(FOX) Cardinals (4-5-1) at Falcons (6-4) - After losing to the Vikings, the Cardinals are pretty much eliminated from the playoffs. Can't catch Seattle (unless they lose out and the Cardinals win out) maybe a wildcard (same scenario, teams have to lose). Falcons, well division leader, but not by much. Like a tide, they fluctuate. They need to win this game, or risk losing the division to the...gasp...Bucs. Falcons 24, Cardinals 20

(FOX) Giants (7-3) at Browns (0-11) - Giants, don't fail me. Giants 34, Browns 7

(FOX) Rams (4-6) at Saints (4-6) - A good defense vs an aging but efficient offense. The Rams have a good chance to come in and beat the Saints, and get Goff his first win as an NFL QB. Will it happen? No. The Rams have squandered so many opportunities this season. They need to play better, but at this point, they are just playing for pride. Should be a good game. Saints 27, Rams 20

(FOX) 49ers (1-9) at Dolphins (6-4)  - The Dolphins are one of the hottest teams in the league. The 49ers, the opposite. The Dolphins will score early, and often. Pile it on that human stack of Mashed Potatoes Chip Kelly. Dolphins 38, 49ers 17

(CBS) Chargers (4-6) at Texans (6-4) - The Chargers are still one of those teams that can have a burst of scoring and make a team feel stupid in the process. Will the Texans fall victim? No. They put the clamps on the Raiders, but the Raiders are one of those teams that are finding a way to win this season. Texans should lock it down. Texans 24, Chargers 17

(FOX) Seahawks (7-2-1) at Bucs (5-5) - I won't pick against the Seahawks, but a cross country trip, we know how they usually fare. Not too well. I don't see the lowly Bucs winning. Competitive game? Yes. Win, no. Seahawks 27, Bucs 20

(CBS) Panthers (4-6) at Raiders (8-2)- The Raiders are like the Panthers a year ago. A team that no one thought would be great, and here they are. Will the Raiders make the Super Bowl, no. But they can beat a Super Bowl team and show the rest of the league that they are for really real, and they will. Raiders 28, Panthers 17

(CBS) Patriots (8-2) at Jets (3-7) - If the Patriots don't blow out the Jets, I really won't understand life. The Jets are bad. Patriots 41, Jets 13

(NBC) Chiefs (7-3) at Broncos (7-3) - A great sunday night game. The Chiefs and Broncos both 7-3, and fighting for Wild Card spots can get a bit closer to possibly winning the division by winning this game. It's a three way dog fight with three teams with 7 wins in the division. I don't think the Chiefs lose two in a row, but the Broncos won't go away quietly. Chiefs 20, Broncos 19

Monday November 28th

(ESPN) Packers (4-6) at Eagles (5-5) - The Eagles, unless they go on a hell of a run, are going to miss the playoffs. Like the AFC West, the NFC East has three teams with 7 wins or better. The Packers, well they still have an outside shot in their division. But not with that defense. Rodgers will play well. Will score some touchdowns, but their defense is horrible and that will cost them the game. Eagles 34, Packers 31

Happy Thanksgiving!

NFL Week 11

Week 11 Is here!

Thoughts from Week 10:

1. It's official, Dak is now the unchallenged starter, even with Romo returning. He is now the backup. I've always been a Tony fan, thought he was the scapegoat for a lot of the problems of Dallas, but when you're the QB, that's the life. He probably won't be on the roster next season, but when you're injured routinely, you had to figure eventually this day would come. Best of luck, Dak.
2. Sorry Seahawks fan, a win in New England does not make up for your Super Bowl loss two years ago, nice try though.
3. Browns. You aren't disappointing me.
4. Time for the #1 pick to play, Jared Goff. He makes the 6th rookie to play tho season. Probably couldn't have picked a worse opponent to start against. The Dolphins defense gets after the QB.
5. Ezekiel Elliott might be a beast, but let's give it up for the Offensive Line that rarely gets the love.
6. Raiders and Chiefs and Broncos. All 6 wins or more. What a dogfight of a division they have going on right now.
7. Sorry Vikings, it will get worse before it even gets 1/2 a step better.
8. Titans, they might be one of the scariest, most underrated teams no one is talking about. That 47 point outburst, look closer at the numbers. Their running game is ridiculous.
9. Eagles are your typical birds. One week they fly low enough to be hit by a car, the next week they fly high enough to avoid being sucked into the engine of a 737.
10. 49ers just quietly lay there and let the season consume you and draft a QB, offense/defense next year.

Coaches with their ass to the fire

1. Jeff Fisher
2. Mike McCoy
3. Gus Bradley
4. Hue Jackson- Survive an 0-16 season. I doubt it.
5. Mike McCarthy

Last week

My picks this season are like this Gif.

Top 5 Teams

1. Patriots - I'm not ready to elevate Dallas.
2. Dallas
3. Seahawks
4. Raiders
5. Chiefs

Bottom 5 Teams

32. Browns
31. 49ers
30. Jaguars
29. Panthers
28. Bears

Thursday November 17th

(NBC) Saints (4-5) at Panthers (3-6)- I didn't expect the Panthers to be this bad, so let that be a lesson to you folks...the Post Super Bowl loss hangover curse is real. No way you go from a dominant team to a terrible team in the span of 10 months. But here we are. They just lack a lot of components to be a good team. Maybe they were a product of a bad schedule last year. Either way, they are not good. Saints on the other hand, a few bounces here, a few points there, they aren't terrible. Should be a high scoring affair. Saints 27, Panthers 24

Sunday November 20th

(CBS) Steelers (4-5) at Browns (0-10) - Well, you know how I feel. Steelers 34, Browns 6

(CBS) Ravens (5-4) at Cowboys (8-1) - Alright, I am very reluctant to pick the Cowboys. I know that one of these games, they will lose. I picked against them last week because I genuinely felt the Steelers were better, although that game did not disappoint. The Cowboys, are playing great. Defense, which they will have to address in the offseason, is doing just enough to win. the Ravens, for what it's worth, they aren't bad. A few bad bounces in the four games and they could have at least a 7-2 record. Should be another good game. Cowboys 27, Ravens 20

(CBS) Jaguars (2-7) at Lions (5-4)  - Lions could take a commanding lead in this division. I don't think that the Vikings (opponent Cardinals) or Packers (opponent Redskins) will win this weekend. The Lions can grab a two game lead in the division, which we know is huge. Lions 34, Jaguars 17

(CBS) Titans (5-5) at Colts (4-5) - I don't think the Titans are a fluke team, and they will prove it against an inept Colts defense. We will see a shootout. Titans 41, Colts 34

(FOX) Bills (4-5) at Bengals (3-5-1) - The Bengals season...is over. They would have to win out to make the playoffs, and even then with the AFC West with three teams with 6 wins or more, they would have to win the division. So the Bengals will not be in the playoffs. Bills, too. Should be a defensive game. Bills 17, Bengals 13

(FOX) Buccaneers (4-5) at Chiefs (7-2) - Again, one of the quiet under the radar teams, the Chiefs, are playing great football. The Bucs, not so bad either. They already have more wins than I thought they would. Won't matter this week, as the Chiefs should control the tempo and scoreboard. Chiefs 24, Bucs 13

(FOX) Bears (2-7) at Giants (6-3) - The Giants, whether you want to think they are lucky or not, have played great and put themselves in position to win the division OR at least grab a wildcard spot. The Bears, well they will be in the market for several positions this offseason. Giants 34, Bears 10

(FOX) Cardinals (4-4-1) at Vikings (5-4) - My, how the mighty have fallen. Both at one point were believed to be contenders, but now both are trying to salvage their seasons. Vikings have lost four in a row. The Cardinals well they fluctuate more than the Dow lately. Cardinals should squeak out a win. Cardinals 24, Vikings 20

(FOX) Dolphins (5-4) at Rams (4-5) - The Rams are finally going to start Goff, but against a team that gets after the QB. Sure Goff may show some flashes of being worthy of the number one pick, but the first game in, well he won't be winning his first game. Dolphins 21, Rams 16

(CBS) Patriots (7-2) at 49ers (1-8) - No time to bounce back from a loss, like against a team that you should absolutely pummel. Patriots 44, 49ers 13

(CBS) Eagles (5-4) at Seahawks (6-2-1) - I will say this, and shut up, Seahawks fans, the Seahawks are poised to lose this game. Why? Nothing like winning a game you really shouldn't have, and then go home and play down to the competition. Yes they've done it before. I think the Eagles steal one in Fish City. Eagles 20, Seahawks 17

(NBC) Packers (4-5) at Washington (5-3-1) - Washington is playing great. Packers are not. They are not good. The defense is bad. The offense sputters. I can see Washington beating them. Washington 34, Packers 28

Monday November 21st

(ESPN) Texans (6-3) at Raiders (7-2) - Primtime game, time to see if the Raiders live up to what they can accomplish this season, and for seasons to come. Raiders 31, Texans

Happy NFL Week 11!

NFL Week 10

NFL Week 10 is here!

Thoughts from Week 9

1. If reports of the Sheldon Richardson (Jets) to Dallas trade were true, and the only thing hinging on it was a first round pick, good on Dallas for holding out. His off the field problems coupled with his perceived laziness on the field and impending free agency, Dallas was smart to walk away.
2. Atlanta is in full control of the NFC South.
3. Cleveland, thank you. You are keeping the dream alive. Up with hope, down with your season.
4. Dallas is the surprise of the season. Don't even suggest another team. I, as a fan, am even surprised. I thought 6-10 season for sure.
5. I am really surprised at the Steelers and their .500 season.
6. Daaaaaa Raiders. They look amazing guys.
7. If I were in the NFC North, I would be worried about the Lions.Vikings were the sexy pick early on, but it is indeed the Lions that look mighty.
8. Philadelphia, i hate you, but you should've beat the Giants. No reason for losing that game.
9. San Diego, you have the offense, but your lackluster record and inability to fully close out games will be your end.
10. Kansas City is quietly one of the best teams NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT.

Last Week

7-5. Blah.

Thursday November 10

(NFL) Brown (0-9) at Ravens (4-4) - If you haven't been paying attention, you know I am currently rooting AGAINST the Browns. I must say, it is nothing personal against Cleveland, the Browns, NFL, just I believe if you start something, finish it. In this case, i am rooting for them to continue to lose and go 0-16. Ravens, don't ruin this for me. Ravens 21, Browns 9

Sunday November 13th

(FOX) Packers (4-4) at Titans (4-5)- The Packers are in the area of dangerously letting their season slip away. This is against a Titans team that has nothing to lose. No expectations to be good, no expectations to win, just to improve. If the Packers don't stop the run (the Titans have a hell of a run game), and if they don't score early, the Packers will lose. Make the Titans play from behind. I think the Packers jump to a lead, and since their defense is not great, it will be a fantasy football dream game. Packers 42, Titans 35

(FOX) Vikings (5-3) at Washington (4-3-1) - Two teams that are stuck in the "are we good v are we bad" limbo. Sure, both have winning records, but look at them. Nothing to say HEY WE ARE ELITE. Instead, both have questions. The Vikings defense, which once looks mighty, is not good. Washington's offense and defense is suspect. Should be a low scoring game. Washington 21, Vikings 17

(FOX) Bears (2-6) at Buccaneers (3-5)  - I used to call this the "Lovie Bowl" (Lovie Smith coached both the Bears and Bucs, duh) but neither team is really good. QB play for the Bears is erratic, the Bucs are young, but can score a lot of points. I think they pull one out from the Bears. Bucs 27, Bears 20

(CBS) Chiefs (6-2) at Panthers (3-5) - Panthers seem to play better at home, they score a lot of points. But look at the Chiefs defense, they are pretty good. They can contain Cam and force him to beat them through the air. Problem with that, their receivers are not that good. This is why Cam takes a lot of hits. Chiefs should contain him. Chiefs 24, Panthers 14

BIRD FIGHT

(FOX) Falcons (6-3) at Eagles (4-4) - I am excited for this game. I would like to see how the Falcons offense matches up with the Eagles defense. I suspect the Falcons defense will throw the kitchen sink at the Wentz. Julio Jones, if you have him. He will have a big day. Falcons 34, Eagles 20

(FOX) Rams (3-5) at Jets (3-6) - Battle of the Who cares. Rams, heading for another top 10 pick. Jets will join them. Neither team has it figured out yet. The clock is ticking, but neither will gain ground in their division or challenge for a wildcard. Rams 17, Jets 10

(CBS) Broncos (6-3) at Saints (4-4) - The Saints seem to have figured out this whole offensive thing, but they are still going against a Broncos Defense that is still among one of the best. Won't be a high scoring game, sorry, Saints fans. Saints 20, Broncos 13

(CBS) Texans (5-3) at Jaguars (2-6) - The Texans are mediocre at best. It bodes well from them in a crap division that they reside in. No one is going to challenge them for the division. The Jaguars, well I thought they would be better. They aren't. Texans should cook them. Texans 31, Jaguars 10

(CBS) Dolphins (4-4) at Chargers (4-5) - The Chargers play good at home, scoring a lot of points. Problem is, the defense allows nearly as many points. So it's kind of a bad thing. Dolphins aren't all that great. Mediocre .500 team. Chargers should score enough points to become a .500 team. Chargers 34, Dolphins 20

(FOX) Cowboys (7-1) at Steelers (4-4) - Steelers lost to a Ravens team that fluctuates worse than LeBron's hairline. Cowboys, hottest team in the league. Seven straight games. I don't know, I am skeptical this week. Seems like a trap game. I think the Steelers pull out a close game. The Magic of Dak can't go on forever. Wait, that sounds like a spell in World of Warcraft. Magic of Dak -3 power. I never played Warcraft, but I feel that fits and I'm staying by that. Steelers 20, Cowboys 17

(FOX) 49ers (1-7) at Cardinals (3-4-1) - Nothing like a lowly division opponent to help you right the ship. The Cardinals need this, or else their season is over. Cardinals 27, 49ers 13

(NBC) Seahawks (5-2-1) at Patriots (7-1) - Super Bowl Rematch, the last time they played Brady was hoisting another trophy. Seahawks, haven't been the same. Sure they win games, but not as dominant as they were leading up to that Super Bowl Game. Patriots are on a roll, and Brady has been superb since he returned. I think another close game is in hand. Patriots 31, Seahawks 28

Monday November 14th

(ESPN) Bengals (3-4-1) at Giants (5-3) - I thought the Bengals would build on last season, and be better. They are not. The Giants, for all it's worth, is not that good either, despite the 5-3 record. They have not put away opponents like they should. Invested a lot of money on defense, and it's their weakest part of the team. Bengals can score, should be a nice Monday night fight. Bengals 34, Giants 31

Happy Week 10!

NFL Week 9

Week 9 is here!

First off, congrats to the Cubs for knocking off 108 years of sadness and heartbreak and winning the World Series.

Thoughts from week 8

1. My how the mighty Vikings have fallen...
2. Two ties, in two weeks? C'mon man.
3. Atlanta is crushing the south division right now.
4. Green Bay might be able to take the division from a pretender Vikings team that could lose 3 games in a row.
5. Browns, you give this dark heart some life.
6. The Seahawks losing to the Saints was the biggest upset last weekend.
7. Maybe the Cardinals shouldn't go to Carolina, they get their ass beat there every time.
8. Dak Prescott, should be rookie of the year. or at least share it with Ezekiel Elliott.
9. Tom Brady has 12 td's and no interceptions in 4 games, ya'll.
10. Broncos defense sets the tone. Also glad to see Wade Phillips is okay. Scary hit he took on the sidelines. Coaches need to...

Suit up.

Last Week 7-5-1.

Top 5 Teams

1. Patriots
2. Cowboys
3. Seahawks
4. Broncos
5. Raiders

Bottom 5 Teams

32. Browns
31. 49ers
30. Bears
29. Jaguars
28. Colts

Thursday November 3rd

(NFL) Falcons (5-3) at Buccaneers (3-4)- Honestly this should be one of the better thursday match ups. I think the Buccaneers are about to be an up and coming team in the next two years, so it's exciting to see them grow. The Falcons, could take the next step, and win a game they are supposed to win. I see them winning comfortably. Falcons 34, Buccaneers 17

Sunday November 6th

(CBS) Steelers (4-3) at Ravens (3-4) - Remember when the Ravens were 3-0 and everyone was like, oh crap they might be for real? Well, quote the Raven...nevermore. They are not good. They always play tough games against the steelers, so I can see this being a field goal fiesta. Steelers 18, Ravens 9

(FOX) Cowboys (6-1) at Browns (0-8) - Honestly I was just hoping the Cowboys would be like 3-4 at this point, and could have been 7-0 had they closed out the Giants in week 1. Overall, happy with the team. Defense is pretty good, offense is really good. I don't envy the Cowboys coaches, roll with Prescott, or go with Romo when he is healthy. Either way, Romo will be on a short leash when he returns. Other side of the ball, the Browns. Guys, they aren't a bad offensive team. Defense, they suck ass, but their offense is pretty good. It's just they can't stop anyone from scoring. Cowboys, don't lose to the browns. Don't let my own team be dead to me. Cowboys 34, Browns 17

(CBS) Jaguars (2-5) at Chiefs (5-2) - The Jaguars just haven't lived up to the hype. They are just as bad as their roster projects them to be. Right now they are penciled in for the number 4 pick in the draft, but they can get some wins. Won't be this week. Not against these Chiefs. Chiefs 35, Jaguars 20

Coinflip Game of the week

(CBS) Jets (3-5) at Dolphins (3-4) - Two of the teams you always think will "get it together" but never do. It's like the boyfriend who tells the girlfriend he will do better, and does for like, 37 hours, and then reverts back to his normal behavior. Neither team is great. Both teams have issues on both sides of the ball. So, I have to go to the coin. Heads = Jets. Tails = Fish. Tails it is. Dolphins 27, Jets 24

(FOX) Eagles (4-3) at Giants (4-3) - Division games are always good. I love them. Hate the teams involved, but to me, they both have played good. The whole division is above .500. Which is great, considering most of them were subpar last season. Giants have the offense, defense, for what they spent, is not worth it. Eagles, need to get out and score early in order to have a chance, because that Giants defense will blitz the rookie. Eagles 24, Giants 22

Upset Game of the Week

(FOX) Lions (4-4) at Vikings (5-2) - I think the Eagles exposed the major plot holes in the Vikings origin story this year. Then the Bears did. Now the Lions will. That's right, the Lions are going to maul the Vikings on Sunday. I say this because at the beginning, when the were 5-0, they looked unstoppable. Defense was firing on all cylinders. They were being praised and pumped up as a super bowl contender. Then, they went and got their ass beat, yes, beat, by the lowly Bears. Stafford is a much better QB. So watch what he does to this defense. Lions 31, Vikings 20

(FOX) Panthers (2-5) at Rams (3-4) - Finally the Panthers looked like a good team last week. Maybe they needed the Cardinals to kickstart their season. Either way, they looked great. They can go cross country and beat the Rams, won't be by much, but they should put the clamps on a mediocre team. Panthers 24, Rams 20

(FOX) Saints (3-4) at 49ers (1-6) - The 49ers are bad. Chip Kelly, well...he kinda deserves this. Once hailed as "great in Philadelphia" well he wasn't. Product of a good group he inherited. But he ran a lot of great guys off. Now he inherited a 49ers team that is about as much of a mess as we thought they'd be. The Saints beat a high caliber opponent last week and should do the same with a low caliber disappointment of a team. Saints 24, 49ers 17

(CBS) Titans (4-4) at Chargers (3-5)- Look the run game for the Titans (DeMarco Murray, and Derrick Henry plus Mariotta) is no joke. They are a great running team, and when they need to pass, they aren't too shabby. It's the defense that needs to be upgraded, but give them another season of draft picks to get there. The Chargers, one of those teams that have been in every game, and found a way to lose a lot of them. I think the Titans come in, control the clock, and get the win. Titans 27, Chargers 17

(CBS) Colts (3-5) at Packers (4-3) - The Colts are a huge disappointment. I mean they are always projected to be good, but their defense is so bad that it's virtually impossible for them to be better than a 7-9 team. The Packers, well they have a chance to tie Minnesota for the division lead. These are games they have to win. It's at Lambeau, the Packers need to score early and often. Packers 35, Colts 17

(NBC) Broncos (6-2) at Raiders (6-2) - Primetime game I'm excited to see. A mediocre offense/great defense vs a high explosive offense/bad defense. Who will bend? I think defense wins these battles every time. Going to be a low scoring game. Broncos 20, Raiders 14

Monday November 7th

(ESPN) Bills (4-4) at Seahawks (4-2-1) - Look the Seahawks play great at home. The Bills come in with a defense that is pretty good, not nearly as accomplished as the Seahawks defense, but the Bills have some good defenders. Take a page from the lowly Saints playbook from last week. Problem is, the Bills offense is so spotty  it's hard to wonder which version shows up. I think the Seahawks win, won't be a blowout, but they will win. Seahawks 24, Bills 20.

HAPPY NFL WEEK 9! Don't forget to go and vote on Tuesday November 8th!
