NFL Week 8

It's halfway over, folks.

thoughts from Week 7

1. That Tom Brady guy, he sure is good.
2. A TIE, in this NFL economy? C'mon Seahawks/Cardinals.
3. Atlanta, you had a chance to show us you were better than last season. Is the collapse looming?
4. No word if Romo, or Prescott is playing. I say, ride with Dak.
5. Sam Bradford showed up last week. The real Sam Bradford.
6. Eagles exposed that Vikings defense last week...
7. Buffalo, talk big, wimper away quietly.
8. Matthew Stafford is playing amazing right now.
9. Browns, at least you have two championship quality teams to aspire to in your city...
10. Bears are a shitshow. QB and coach not on the same team at all.

Last Week 7-7-1.

Top 5

1. Patriots
2. Seahawks
3. Broncos
4. Cowboys
5. Vikings

Bottom 5

32. Browns
31. Bears
30. Panthers
29. Jets
28. Saints

Bye week teams: Rams, Dolphins, Giants, Steelers, 49ers, Ravens

Thursday October 27th

(NFL) Jaguars (2-4) at Titans (3-4) - The good news so far for the Titans, they don't have a top 5 pick in next April's draft. As long as the bottom 5 teams don't start winning, and the Titans start losing, they should be close to our outside of the top 10. Jaguars, not so much. I thought they were ready to turn the corner. Instead, they on the corner, begging for a dollar. Titans have a strong running game, and Mariotta is turning out to be a decent passer/game manager. Division games, always good. Should be another good one. Titans 27, Jaguars 24

Sunday October 30th

(FOX) Redskins (4-3) at Bengals (3-4) - finally a London game I actually could stomach to watch. Usually it's teams with crap records. Sure both of these teams suck in the grand scheme of NFL records, but top tier QB's (Lower end of the top tier) and defenses that will make you pay for a mistake, I would watch this. I think the Bengals get back to .500 courtesy of a late field goal. Bengals 31, Redskins 28

(CBS) Chiefs (4-2) at Colts (3-4) - If the Colts hope to be competitive in the next few years, they need to devote some money to that horrid defense of theirs. Sure, Offense scores points, but right now they are being outscored, badly. Chiefs are a little above average. Not great, but still a top 10 team. Should shutdown the Colts. Chiefs 24, Colts 13

(CBS) Raiders (5-2) at Buccaneers (3-3) - The Raiders are playing good. Not great. I thought they would take a mighty leap forward this year. A defense last season that wouldn't quit, and an up and coming offense. Well the offense has came up, but the defense has regressed. Buccaneers are right where they should be in a series of rebuild years. Should be a good game, and offensive showdown if you will. Raiders 34, Buccaneers 24

(FOX) Seahawks (4-1-1) at Saints (2-4) - Ugh, a tie. Makes me sick. Saints are at home, but they've played decently terrible home and away. Jimmy Graham comes back to the city that traded him. I expect a two TD game from him. Seahawks 28, Saints 10

(FOX) Lions (4-3) at Texans (4-3) - Texans still haven't figured out how to be a good NFL team. Up and down up and down. Lions meanwhile, have played good. Stafford is one of the best QB's in the NFL right now. Without JJ Watt, I can see the Lions having a field day. Lions 24, Texans 20

(CBS) Jets (2-5) at Browns (0-7) - Look, I am not a mean person. I just like when things go the way I hope. Like when the Lions went 0-16, and now hopefully the Browns. Look Jets, I had a "you're dead to me list" going that season for any one that lost to the Lions. please do not make me start that list. Browns, do your part. Lose, lose spectacularly. You already have a Cavaliers championship, an Indians team that is in the World Series and one that I hope knocks the Cubs down, so do me this gargantuan favor. Lose. Don't even show up on sunday. Just like, collect the check, run some patterns, fall down on defense. Don't even pretend you want to win. Jets, crush them. Don't think, just win. Jets 35, Browns 17

(CBS) Patriots (6-1) at Bills (4-3) - I have looked forward to this game. The only tick mark on the ol' Patriots loss column. The Bills went into New England and ran them out of their own building. I expect the Patriots to do the same. the Bills will be reeling from this beatdown. Patriots 42, Bills 7

(FOX) Cardinals (3-3-1) at Panthers (1-5) - A rematch of the NFC Title game of which these same Panthers destroyed the Cardinals. Now the Panthers sit at 1-5 and look like a terrible team. The cardinals, finally figured out a groove last week, and somehow tied the Seahawks. UGH. The Defense is back to firing on all cylinders for them, I think the Cardinals rebound, and beat the Panthers down. Cardinals 31, Panthers 13

(CBS) Chargers (3-4) at Broncos (5-2) - Chargers honestly could be 6-1 at this point, but they play so erratic that it's hard to pinpoint what's really wrong with their team. They could be one of those scary wildcard teams that no one wants to play, but at some point they have to get above .500. Will they get to an even record this week, honestly it's possible. The Broncos defense, for all it is worth, was dominant in weeks 1-3 and not so dominant in other weeks. QB play is crap, so any team playing against the Broncos should be able to make them pay for being so terrible. I think the Broncos win this week, because of the up and down nature of the Chargers. Broncos 21, Chargers 10

(FOX) Packers (4-2) at Falcons (4-3)- Falcons should be 6-1, but a no pass interference call in Seattle, and an overtime loss to the Chargers have them where they are. Are they a good or bad team? no clue. they are not consistent. Packers, same way. No consistency, and now it's running back by committee with Eddie Lacy out. Rodgers has to cut his turnovers down, and get the ball out of his hands quicker. I think the Packers sneak in and steal a game in the Georgia Dome. Packers 27, Falcons 20

(NBC) Eagles (4-2) at Cowboys (5-1) - As a lifelong Cowboys fan, I've hated to endorse the Cowboys this season. I am afraid that my bubble will be deflated. However, this version of the Cowboys seems like one I think can do some damage. Big question, who plays? Prescott or Romo? Do you stay with the hot handed rookie and make the veteran sit? (see Brady v Bledsoe) or do you put Romo back in because you THINK he gives you the best chance to win. I say, go with the rookie. He is doing work and has put Dallas in an unimaginable position, one no one thought they'd be in 8 weeks ago. Rookie QB (2nd pick) vs Rookie QB 86th pick. I hate the Eagles, so fly into a cavern wall, FILTHADELPHIA! Cowboys 297, Eagles -13
(Real score Cowboys 27, Eagles 13)

Monday October 31st

(ESPN) Vikings (5-1) at Bears (1-6) - hahaha, Bears. No one cares about you. even diehard Bears fans have given up on you since preseason week 3. I thought you'd be better, but man oh man you are just bad. Vikings should shut up the "they were exposed" talk for a week when they dismantle the Bears at Soldier Field. Vikings 31, Bears 13

Happy Week 8!

NFL WEEK 7

Notes from Week 6

1. The Steelers, Big Ben going down is not good for them.
2. Well, at least 2 out of 3 Cleveland teams were fantastic this season. Not you, Browns.
3. Cowboys have a real problem at QB. A great problem actually. Two good QB's. I think Romo might be the odd man out after the bye.
4. The Patriots, are the best team in the AFC.
5. The Bengals, are a huge disappointment right now.
6. Intrigued by this Bills/Patriots rematch looming. Going to be a classic.
7. The Falcons, got robbed. Should've been a pass interference call. I'm very surprised how well they are playing.
8. The Panthers, didn't think they would be THIS bad. But man, they are terrible.
9. Probably should just hand Ezekiel Elliott the ROY trophy and possibly NFL POY. Dude is crushing it right now.
10. The Texans comeback was pretty great last week.
11. The Packers are not good. Not good at all.
12. see also, the Cardinals.

Top 5

1. Vikings
2. Patriots
3. Falcons
4. Seahawks
5. Cowboys

Bottom 5

32. Browns
31. Jets
30. Panthers
29. Bears
28. 49ers

Last week 6-8

Thursday October 20

(CBS) Bears (1-5) at Packers (3-2) - This is a battle of which defense is worst. Should be the Bears. Aaron loves to tear them up, so I can see that he will have one of those nights that light up the scoreboard. Packers 35, Bears 10

Sunday October 23

(NFL) Giants (3-3) at Rams (3-3) - London baby. The Giants had a good win last week. Odell looked like an all pro receiver. Problem is that defense is bad. I don't think the Rams have the offense to hang, but this should be a close game. Giants 24, Rams 20

(FOX) Saints (2-3) at Chiefs (3-2) - The Chiefs have not been playing like they want to be an elite team. Defense is spotty. Offense is eh, the Saints, well besides beating a lowly Panthers team, they haven't been that great. Need to step it up. Should be a Chiefs win. Chiefs 31, Saints 21

(CBS) Colts (2-4) at Titans (3-3) - Andrew Luck hasn't lost two AFC South games in a while as the starting QB. I see that changing, because the Titans are starting to get a tad bit more comfortable as a team. They rely on the run a bit more, and Mariotta is figuring out how to be a productive starter. Titans win a close game. Titans 20, Colts 13

(FOX) Vikings (5-0) at Eagles (3-2) - Look, this is the first of two revenge games on Sunday. Bradford returning to the Eagles, with a loaded Vikings team. I see them throwing the kitchen sink at Wentz. Vikings 31, Eagles 17

(CBS) Browns (0-6) at Bengals (2-4) - I'm all about keeping a winless team. I am an evil person. Bengals 31, Browns 20

(FOX) Redskins (4-2) at Lions (3-3) - This is a good game. The Lions have been playing better each week, and shockingly so have the Redskins. I fully expect this to be a defensive battle. Cousins will throw at least two picks, but win in the end. Redskins 24, Lions 17

(CBS) Raiders (4-2) at Jaguars (2-3) - I am slowly falling off the Raiders bandwagon. I want them to win, but they seem to play bad against opponents they should be beating. They should be able to hold off the Jaguars. Raiders 27, Jaguars 20

(CBS) Bills (4-2) at Dolphins (2-4) - I won't waste your time. This Bills team should beat up the Dolphins. Bills 35, Dolphins 13

(CBS) Ravens (3-3) at Jets (1-5) - They've turned to Geno Smith, that's how bad things are for the Jets. A year has made a big difference for the Jets and they are heading toward a rebuild. Ravens should squeak by. Ravens 20, Jets 17

(FOX) Buccaneers (2-3) at 49ers (1-5) -  A much better chance to get on track for the lowly 49ers. They can start by getting out, scoring a few TD's and then keep scoring. This is the week they put it together and get that elusive second win. 49ers 34, Bucs 20

(FOX) Chargers (2-4) at Falcons (4-2) - The Falcons will rebound from last week's crappy loss, and come out and shut the Chargers down. Falcons 31, Chargers 13

(CBS) Patriots (5-1) at Steelers (4-2) - Without Big Ben, this should be a laugher. I don't see Landry Jones coming out and defeating the Patriots. Patriots 35, Steelers 9

(NBC) Seahawks (4-1) at Cardinals (3-3) - NFC West battle. I see this going for the Seahawks. Cardinals aren't all that great. THey should be, but they aren't. Seahawks win a tough, close game. Seahawks 24, Cardinals 20

Monday October 24

(ESPN) Texans (4-2) at Broncos (4-2) - The Osweiller Left and we want redemption game. Look, he might turn out to be a decent QB, but don't think that Broncos defense isn't going to get after him this week. It will be a massacre. The Broncos offense sucks, but that defense can and will get after the QB. Broncos 27, Texans 10

Week 6

Notes from week 5

1. The Vikings are the best team in the league right now. Not even the record, just the way they play.
2. Tom Brady is back. Patriots won't lose the rest of the season. Okay, maybe twice.
3. Maybe it's time we look at the Falcons as a viable option in the South. Panthers, Saints, Bucs are all bad.
4. Has anyone had a more gut wrenching season like the Chargers?
5. Browns and down rhyme.
6. I honestly didn't believe the Cowboys could beat the Bengals. Looks like they are proving a lot of people wrong.
7. Lions managed to top the Eagles. didn't see that coming.
8. The Steelers outplayed a poorly coached Jets team.
9. Packers, welcome back to the win column.
10. Without Cam Newton, the Panthers looked terrible last week.

Top 5 teams

1. Vikings
2. Patriots
3. Broncos
4. Seahawks
5. Steelers

Bottom 5 Teams

32. Browns
31. Chargers
30. Jets
29. Panthers
28. Dolphins

Coaches on the hot seat

1. Browns coach
2. Chargers coach.
3. Saints Coach

Last Week 9-5

Bye Week Teams: Vikings, Buccaneers

Thursday October 13th

(CBS) Broncos (4-1) at Chargers (1-4) - I am unable to properly convey how the Chargers season is going. A few close calls where they should have won, but yet they are 1-4.  So it looks something like this in my head.
I expect that to continue this week. I mean, they aren't a great team. The Broncos should rebound and dispatch the Chargers. Broncos 31, Chargers 13

Sunday October 16th

(FOX) 49ers (1-4) at Bills (3-2) - Kaepernick gets the start. Will it be the same lackluster offense we've seen from them? Going against a rather hot Bills team that started out 0-2 and has managed to win the last three, we should see a completely refocused team with Kaepernick at the helm. I don't think they will win, but I do expect them to put some points on the board this week against an "Okay" Bills defense. Bills 27, 49ers 24

(FOX) Eagles (3-1) at Redskins (3-2) - The Redskins and Eagles, division rivals, always seem to have bad blood. Jackson is always out to prove that the Eagles letting him go, was their biggest mistake. If he's on your fantasy team, probably should start him. Eagles, look good. Sure they lost last week, but they are still one of the best teams in the league right now. Should be a tight game. Redskins 24, Eagles 21

(CBS) Browns (0-5) at Titans (2-3) - This is probably the best chance for the Browns to get a win, and they won't. Titans 34, Browns 20

(CBS) Ravens (3-2) at Giants (2-3) - Talk about teams going in the opposite direction, the Giants started out hot, and have dropped 3 in a row. They are not nearly as good as the massive amount of money spent on defense would have you believe. The Ravens, well, no one thought they would be good. I'm surprised they have three wins. Ravens 20, Giants 14

(FOX) Panthers (1-4) at Saints (1-3) - Look, the Panthers suck, and so do the Saints, but the games in New Orleans between the two are always good. Should be a high scoring fest! Panthers 38, Saints 34

(CBS) Jaguars (1-3) at Bears (1-4) - The Bears, still bad. Not a good team. The Jaguars, well they aren't great, but they are young and should improve on the win in London and the Bye week.  I think the Jaguars come out and pounce on the Bears. Jaguars 27, Bears 13

(FOX) Rams (3-2) at Lions (2-3) - The Lions had a good win last week, unexpected over a good Eagles team. The Rams, lost to a surging Bills team. This week, with a combination of defense, and sputtering offense, the Rams should hold off the pesky Lions. Rams 20, Lions 17

(CBS) Steelers (4-1) at Dolphins (1-4) - In the nice Florida sun, the Steelers should put on an offensive display against the Dolphins lackluster defense. Steelers 31, Dolphins 10

(CBS) Bengals (2-3) at Patriots (4-1) - Tom Brady didn't disappoint last week, and he won't this week. Patriots 35, Bengals 7

(CBS) Chiefs (2-2) at Raiders (4-1) - This is a good matchup, not just because of the AFC West lineage, but because we finally get to see if the Raiders are ready to challenge for the division. If they can get past the Chiefs, they are positioned to challenge the defending division Champs Broncos. But these are games they have to win, but I think this week, they don't.  Chiefs 24, Raiders 20

(FOX) Falcons (4-1) at Seahawks (3-1) - Another intriguing matchup because now we get to see if the Falcons can take on an elite team and beat them. I think it will be a good game. Old Seahawks coach in town. I think they squeak by...Falcons 24, Seahawks 21

(FOX) Cowboys (4-1) at Packers (3-1) - The last time the Cowboys were in Lambeau, they had a chance to win a playoff game, but faltered. Different team, different QB. The Packers defense, not great. It has a lot of holes. Then again, the Cowboys offense has rookies leading a formidable attack. Will they leave Lambeau with a win? I think it will be close. Packers 31, Cowboys 28

(NBC) Colts (2-3) at Texans (3-2) - Essentially this is a division match with lots on the line. The Lowly Colts could regain control, or the Texans could seize the division outright. Both teams have more questions than answers, but a primetime game, at home, I'll take the Texans. Texans 27, Colts 20

Monday October 17th

(ESPN) Jets (1-4) at Cardinals (2-3) - The Cardinals at home, with Carson Palmer back, against a Jets team that I thought would be a lot better, but really isn't. The Cardinals should get back to .500. Cardinals 34, Jets 20

Happy Week 6!!!

NFL Week 5

Notes from Week 4

1. I totally nailed that Giants/Vikings game and score. 24-10. I don't get the exact score right often (looked back, only 3 other times) so I'm proud of that. Plus, the Vikings, they seem like one of those special teams right now.
2. Don't gloat, Bills. Tom is coming back. The rematch will be a lot different.
3. Seems that Tony Romo can take it easy in coming back. Prescott is playing great.
4. Cardinals, you are ruining my Super Bowl pick.
5. Panthers, look horrible.
6. Julio Jones had a monster game last week. 300 plus yards receiving last week.
7. I mean, the Raiders are playing good. They need to keep playing good.
8. Flipside, The Chargers, damn. They are bad.
9. Broncos and Vikings look really good. Whether one or both make it to the Super Bowl doesn't matter right now. Their defenses are amazing.
10. Now that Le'Veon Bell is back, the Steelers are going to be dangerous.
11. Keep being you, Browns.

TOP 5 TEAMS

1. Broncos
2. Vikings
3. Steelers
4. Patriots
5. Seahawks

Bottom 5 Teams

32. Browns
31. Colts
30. Lions
29. Bears
28. Chargers

Coaches on the hot seat

1. Browns coach
2. Chargers coach.
3. Saints Coach

Last week 8-7

Bye Week Teams- Chiefs, Saints, Seahawks, Jaguars

Thursday October 6th

(CBS) Cardinals (1-3) at 49ers (1-3) - Well, Carson Palmer is officially out, as he is in the concussion protocol for the NFL. I tell you, the Cardinals are playing terribly. The 49ers aren't so great either. Thing is the 49ers are without 3 starters this week. The Cardinals have a good defense, should be able to slow down the 49ers crappy offense. Cardinals 17, 49ers 9

Sunday October 9th

(CBS) Patriots (3-1) at Browns (0-4) - hahaha, I won't waste your time. Tom Brady is back. The Browns suck. He's going to come out and fling about 5 TD passes Sunday. Patriots 41, Browns 7

(FOX)  Eagles (3-0) at Lions (1-3) - The way Carson Wentz is playing, I wouldn't be surprised if he has a 3TD game Sunday. The Lions certainly are bottom dwellers, and lost to the crappy lowly Bears. Eagles defense should hold the Lions in check. Eagles 27, Lions 10

(FOX) Bears (1-3) at Colts (1-3) - Highly unusual that the team returning from London doesn't have a bye week. Colts probably don't need it anyway, considering they suck. The Bears, no better. Colts are home, that's the only reason why I'm picking them. Colts 24, Bears 17

(CBS) Titans (1-3) at Dolphins (1-3) - The Dolphins defense is supposed to be their best unit of the team, but it's not all that great. Overall, the Dolphins aren't good. They continue to lose games and have an inept offense. The Titans, well we expected them to be bad. This should be a good game, because both teams are bad. Dolphins 21, Titans 13

(FOX) Redskins (2-2) at Ravens (3-1) - Both teams are not that far apart from each other. Only thing is, the Ravens are playing a lot better and could be 4-0, if not for a few letdowns last week. Time to see if Kirk Cousins is for real, and he very well could be, but he has to start winning games, won't win this week. Ravens 28, Redskins 24

(CBS) Texans (3-1) at Vikings (4-0) - I'm going to roll with the Vikings again. They are pretty good on defense. The Texans haven't found their footing on offense yet. Good defense, mediocre offense. Look for the Vikings to get to an early lead. Vikings 27, Texans 13

(CBS) Jets (1-3) at  Steelers (3-1)- Right now, the Jets aren't the team that you should be worried about. The offense is crap, the defense is aging. That should be a worry against the Steelers who looked amazing last week. Will they score that many points? No. But they will hit the thirties. Steelers 34, Jets 12

(FOX) Falcons (3-1) at Broncos (4-0) - I don't think the Falcons will even get close to replicating last week, especially against the Broncos, but they have showed they are capable of scoring a ton of points. The Broncos, stingy. Falcons should be shut down this week. Broncos 24, Falcons 9

(CBS) Bengals (2-2) at Cowboys (3-1) - the Bengals played good, good enough to win. They aren't the same team from last season. They are statistically worse in a lot of categories.  Should be a worry in their division, so they need to start playing better. Dallas, is not great, but they are better than we imagined without Tony Romo. The rookies (Prescott, Elliott) are playing great. Bryant is out, so they need their receivers to step up again. Dallas will play good, and lose. Bengals 24, Cowboys 20

(CBS) Bills (2-2) at Rams (3-1) - To my surprise, and probably theirs, the Rams are 3-1. Doing it with defense mostly. Case Keenum is not bad, but not a great QB either. Bills, are on a mini roll. They come into town on a two game win streak. I expect them to extend it to three. Bills 17, Rams 9

(CBS) Chargers (1-3) at Raiders (3-1) - The Chargers score a lot of points and somehow have lost three games. Division games are tough, and the Raiders have played good. I think they escape a high scoring affair. Raiders 35, Chargers 31

(NBC) Giants (2-2) at Packers (2-1) - I don't know what to make of the Giants. They are one of those teams that play good, play bad, play good, play terrible. They face a Packers team, who at home, is pretty untouchable. If Manning doesn't get going and get Beckham involved early, they are going to be in trouble. That high priced defense isn't as great as they hoped it would be, yet. Packers are going to come out hot, out of the bye week. Packers 38, Giants 20

Monday October 10th

(ESPN) Buccaneers (1-3) at Panthers (1-3) - If you would've told me that the Panthers would be 1-3, I'd be like "SAYYYYYYYY WHAAAAAAA" but here we are, most of the "fans" have rolled off the bandwagon, Cam Newton looks horrible, the defense is terrible, Josh Norman is taking shots at them. Not a good look for a team coming off a Super Bowl appearance. Bucs, well no one expects them to compete for titles, yet. Give them about three years. For now, I think the Bucs slip by. Bucs 21, Panthers 20

Happy NFL WEEK 5!
