NFL Week 8

It's halfway over, folks.

thoughts from Week 7

1. That Tom Brady guy, he sure is good.
2. A TIE, in this NFL economy? C'mon Seahawks/Cardinals.
3. Atlanta, you had a chance to show us you were better than last season. Is the collapse looming?
4. No word if Romo, or Prescott is playing. I say, ride with Dak.
5. Sam Bradford showed up last week. The real Sam Bradford.
6. Eagles exposed that Vikings defense last week...
7. Buffalo, talk big, wimper away quietly.
8. Matthew Stafford is playing amazing right now.
9. Browns, at least you have two championship quality teams to aspire to in your city...
10. Bears are a shitshow. QB and coach not on the same team at all.

Last Week 7-7-1.

Top 5

1. Patriots
2. Seahawks
3. Broncos
4. Cowboys
5. Vikings

Bottom 5

32. Browns
31. Bears
30. Panthers
29. Jets
28. Saints

Bye week teams: Rams, Dolphins, Giants, Steelers, 49ers, Ravens

Thursday October 27th

(NFL) Jaguars (2-4) at Titans (3-4) - The good news so far for the Titans, they don't have a top 5 pick in next April's draft. As long as the bottom 5 teams don't start winning, and the Titans start losing, they should be close to our outside of the top 10. Jaguars, not so much. I thought they were ready to turn the corner. Instead, they on the corner, begging for a dollar. Titans have a strong running game, and Mariotta is turning out to be a decent passer/game manager. Division games, always good. Should be another good one. Titans 27, Jaguars 24

Sunday October 30th

(FOX) Redskins (4-3) at Bengals (3-4) - finally a London game I actually could stomach to watch. Usually it's teams with crap records. Sure both of these teams suck in the grand scheme of NFL records, but top tier QB's (Lower end of the top tier) and defenses that will make you pay for a mistake, I would watch this. I think the Bengals get back to .500 courtesy of a late field goal. Bengals 31, Redskins 28

(CBS) Chiefs (4-2) at Colts (3-4) - If the Colts hope to be competitive in the next few years, they need to devote some money to that horrid defense of theirs. Sure, Offense scores points, but right now they are being outscored, badly. Chiefs are a little above average. Not great, but still a top 10 team. Should shutdown the Colts. Chiefs 24, Colts 13

(CBS) Raiders (5-2) at Buccaneers (3-3) - The Raiders are playing good. Not great. I thought they would take a mighty leap forward this year. A defense last season that wouldn't quit, and an up and coming offense. Well the offense has came up, but the defense has regressed. Buccaneers are right where they should be in a series of rebuild years. Should be a good game, and offensive showdown if you will. Raiders 34, Buccaneers 24

(FOX) Seahawks (4-1-1) at Saints (2-4) - Ugh, a tie. Makes me sick. Saints are at home, but they've played decently terrible home and away. Jimmy Graham comes back to the city that traded him. I expect a two TD game from him. Seahawks 28, Saints 10

(FOX) Lions (4-3) at Texans (4-3) - Texans still haven't figured out how to be a good NFL team. Up and down up and down. Lions meanwhile, have played good. Stafford is one of the best QB's in the NFL right now. Without JJ Watt, I can see the Lions having a field day. Lions 24, Texans 20

(CBS) Jets (2-5) at Browns (0-7) - Look, I am not a mean person. I just like when things go the way I hope. Like when the Lions went 0-16, and now hopefully the Browns. Look Jets, I had a "you're dead to me list" going that season for any one that lost to the Lions. please do not make me start that list. Browns, do your part. Lose, lose spectacularly. You already have a Cavaliers championship, an Indians team that is in the World Series and one that I hope knocks the Cubs down, so do me this gargantuan favor. Lose. Don't even show up on sunday. Just like, collect the check, run some patterns, fall down on defense. Don't even pretend you want to win. Jets, crush them. Don't think, just win. Jets 35, Browns 17

(CBS) Patriots (6-1) at Bills (4-3) - I have looked forward to this game. The only tick mark on the ol' Patriots loss column. The Bills went into New England and ran them out of their own building. I expect the Patriots to do the same. the Bills will be reeling from this beatdown. Patriots 42, Bills 7

(FOX) Cardinals (3-3-1) at Panthers (1-5) - A rematch of the NFC Title game of which these same Panthers destroyed the Cardinals. Now the Panthers sit at 1-5 and look like a terrible team. The cardinals, finally figured out a groove last week, and somehow tied the Seahawks. UGH. The Defense is back to firing on all cylinders for them, I think the Cardinals rebound, and beat the Panthers down. Cardinals 31, Panthers 13

(CBS) Chargers (3-4) at Broncos (5-2) - Chargers honestly could be 6-1 at this point, but they play so erratic that it's hard to pinpoint what's really wrong with their team. They could be one of those scary wildcard teams that no one wants to play, but at some point they have to get above .500. Will they get to an even record this week, honestly it's possible. The Broncos defense, for all it is worth, was dominant in weeks 1-3 and not so dominant in other weeks. QB play is crap, so any team playing against the Broncos should be able to make them pay for being so terrible. I think the Broncos win this week, because of the up and down nature of the Chargers. Broncos 21, Chargers 10

(FOX) Packers (4-2) at Falcons (4-3)- Falcons should be 6-1, but a no pass interference call in Seattle, and an overtime loss to the Chargers have them where they are. Are they a good or bad team? no clue. they are not consistent. Packers, same way. No consistency, and now it's running back by committee with Eddie Lacy out. Rodgers has to cut his turnovers down, and get the ball out of his hands quicker. I think the Packers sneak in and steal a game in the Georgia Dome. Packers 27, Falcons 20

(NBC) Eagles (4-2) at Cowboys (5-1) - As a lifelong Cowboys fan, I've hated to endorse the Cowboys this season. I am afraid that my bubble will be deflated. However, this version of the Cowboys seems like one I think can do some damage. Big question, who plays? Prescott or Romo? Do you stay with the hot handed rookie and make the veteran sit? (see Brady v Bledsoe) or do you put Romo back in because you THINK he gives you the best chance to win. I say, go with the rookie. He is doing work and has put Dallas in an unimaginable position, one no one thought they'd be in 8 weeks ago. Rookie QB (2nd pick) vs Rookie QB 86th pick. I hate the Eagles, so fly into a cavern wall, FILTHADELPHIA! Cowboys 297, Eagles -13
(Real score Cowboys 27, Eagles 13)

Monday October 31st

(ESPN) Vikings (5-1) at Bears (1-6) - hahaha, Bears. No one cares about you. even diehard Bears fans have given up on you since preseason week 3. I thought you'd be better, but man oh man you are just bad. Vikings should shut up the "they were exposed" talk for a week when they dismantle the Bears at Soldier Field. Vikings 31, Bears 13

Happy Week 8!
