NFL Week 5

A pedestrian record, 9-6, but could have been 11-4 had the Eagles and the Raiders won games they should have easily won.

Thoughts from Week 4:

1. Falcons, insane. Although Julio Jones didn't get loose, that team looked amazing against the Texans.
2. Dallas seems to hang in there, then they find a way to lose. That's the difference between 4-0 and them being 2-2 currently.
3. Panthers and Falcons, when they do play, should be a great game.
4. Eagles, you look terrible.
5. 49ers, so do you.
6. Seahawks got away with a win. That could have easily gone the other way and dropped them to 1-3. They got the break they needed. Didn't expect that to be a close game, but then again maybe they aren't as great as they have been in previous years.
7. Cardinals, should've won. You let that game slip by.
8. Bengals, killing it. We will know if you are for real when you play the Seahawks.
9. Browns are in a familiar spot.
10. Patriots should drop a ton of points on Dallas.
11. Bills are confusing. Keep playing down to the competition. Defense is getting tore up.
12. I wouldn't be surprised if the Raiders win against the offense-less Broncos.
13. Early season bye weeks are the worst. I feel bad for teams with bye weeks before week 8.

Top 5: Lombardi Division

1. Patriots - Although I think the Packers could be up here as well.
2. Packers - Aaron Rodgers looks really great right now.
3. Bengals - They are really good.
4. Cardinals - Sure, they lost. But they are still good.
5. Falcons - Undefeated, and they look good on both sides of the ball.

Bottom 5: The Participation Ribbon Division

32. Lions - Still haven't won. So they are here.
31. 49ers - So bad. So. So. Bad.
30. Bears - Won, but still bad.
29. Eagles - Defense is terrible, offense is just mediocre.
28. Browns - They are usually down here. Thought this year would be different.

Coaches on the Hot Seat:

1. Joe Philbin - Already fired. He was on top of the list I put together last week.
2. Mike Pettine - Browns don't have a winning record, he cold be a bye week or post season casualty.
3. Bill O'Brien - Texans were bad last year, same this year. He could get the axe after only two seasons.
4. Jim Caldwell - After the playoff exit and the slow start this season, if they don't win, he could be a bye week casualty as well.
5. Jeff Fischer - If the Rams don't at least make the playoffs, I can see him losing his job as well.

Bye Week Teams: Dolphins, Jets, Vikings, Panthers

The Ingersoll Pick of the Week:

Atlanta Falcons - The Redskins won't be able to stop that offense.

Thursday October 8th, 8:30PM EST

(CBS/NFL) Colts (2-2)  at Texans (1-3) - Andrew Luck returns to face a team he has pretty much owned since he entered the league. The Texans, what I thought was a great defense, is terrible. The team is not well built. Outside of commercials, I haven't heard much about J.J. Watt. The Texans need to play better, or their coach is toast. Colts 27, Texans 9

Sunday October 11th, 1:00PM EST

(FOX) Bears (1-3) at Chiefs (1-3) - The Bears are fortunate to have come back and won against the Raiders. The Chiefs have been in most of their games this season and one bad bounce here or there, and they are 1-3. Blitz Cutler early and often to get him out of rhythm and he will throw a lot of interceptions. Chiefs 31, Bears 17

(FOX) Seahawks (2-2) at Bengals (4-0) - This is an intriguing matchup. The Seahawks can show they are back to their dominant form by beating a team that looks like it can possibly challenge New England for the AFC. The Bengals can make a statement by beating the Seahawks. The Seahawks, have not been good on the road, and got away with a win on Monday night. The Bengals won't let Wilson run all over them. Bengals 21, Seahawks 10

(FOX) Redskins (2-2) at Falcons (4-0)  - Already said the Falcons are a sure bet this week. Falcons 38, Redskins 17

Coinflip Game of the Week
Buccaneers (heads) Jaguars (tails)

(CBS) Jaguars (1-3) at Buccaneers (1-3) - This is like a a battle for who is the crappiest team in Florida. Should get Miami in a three way battle and see who wins. Winston needs to not have another turnover fiesta like last week Going to the coin. Tails it is. Jaguars 20, Buccaneers 17 (OT)

(FOX) Saints (1-3) at Eagles (1-3) - I think Drew Brees is going to put the Eagles in a big hole. The Saints can drop some points on this Eagles team that should be a lot better than they are. Saints 27, Eagles 21

(CBS) Browns (1-3) at Ravens (1-3) - This could be the start of the Ravens turning it around. After three tough games, they finally got a win and should be able to put the Browns down. Ravens 34, Browns 20

(FOX) Rams (2-2) at Packers (4-0) - Rodgers is good at home. The Rams are on one of those "every other week we will be good" type kicks. The Packers can score in bunches. If that pass rush of the Rams doesn't get to Rodgers, it's going to be a long day. Packers 28, Rams 13

(CBS) Bills (2-2) at Titans (1-2)  - Fresh off the Bye-Week the Titans should be well rested. they get a Bills team that played like crap against the Giants. The Bills can't lose two in a row, or they are going to get further behind the Patriots. I expect Ryan to have a gameplan for Mariota. Bills 20, Titans 10

4:05PM EST

(FOX) Cardinals (3-1) at Lions (0-4) - Lions, if they lose this game, there will be a lot of heads rolling in Detroit. Sure they were robbed last week. but if there were ever a "must win" game, this is it for them. Unfortunately, they get a Cardinals team that can score. I see them putting the clamps on the Lions. Cardinals 24, Lions 17

(CBS) Patriots (3-0) at Cowboys (2-2) - I certainly see this being a one sided beat down. Patriots 34, Cowboys 13

(CBS) Broncos (4-0) at Raiders (2-2) - As I said before, I can see the Raiders winning. they will get a couple of sacks/three and outs against the Broncos, and if Carr can keep from turning the ball over, they can walk away with a win. Raiders 24, Broncos 20

8:25PM EST

(NBC) 49ers (1-3) at Giants (2-2) - Good news is, the 49ers are as bad as advertised. Bad news is, Eli Manning can throw the ball every where and no one on the 49ers can stop him. Hopefully all of his points go to Beckham. Giants 35, 49ers 13

Monday October 12th, 8:30PM EST

(ESPN) Steelers (2-2) at Chargers (2-2) - With Vick at QB, I think they can rebound from last weeks loss and put some points on the Chargers. It will be somewhat of a shootout. The Chargers have a capable offense, and the Steelers defense isn't "Terrible Towel" worthy right now. Steelers should win by a field goal. Steelers 23, Chargers 20

Happy NFL Week 5!
