NFL Week 4 - Start of the Bye Weeks

NFL Week 4 is here. By the end of Monday night, the season will be 1/4th of the way complete. After having a terrible week 2, I rebounded in week 3 to go 13-3. Bye weeks start this week, which sucks for teams that have a bye week in the first week.

Thoughts from Week 3:

1. Is anyone going to be able to stop Julio Jones? Might we see the first 2,000 receiving yard season ever?
2. On that note, can anyone stop Aaron Rodgers from just being insanely good? Doesn't matter who his receivers are, he just finds a way to be awesome.
3. Look, as far as I'm concerned, passes that bounce off of someone's hands and is an interception, really shouldn't be counted against the QB. With that said, Mariotta has 8 td's and 1 interception this year. Kid is pretty good.
4. Adrian Peterson looked like old AP on Sunday.
5. Can we all take a minute to look at Brandon Weeden and realize he didn't cost Dallas the game? Sure he had one interception, but 22 of 26, is pretty good. the Defense is what cost Dallas on Sunday.
6. Tom Brady, all he does is win. Poor Jaguars on the receiving end of that beatdown.
7. Glad to see the Chiefs finally threw a touchdown to a receiver. Thankfully it was to Maclin who helped me win my fantasy football game this week.
8. We should be looking closer at that Oakland team, they are playing really good football right now.
9. Arizona looks amazing. Two back to back blowouts. Carson Palmer playing out of his mind. They have the look of a team that can go deep into the playoffs.
10. How bad does Chicago look? Yowza.
11. Ravens 0-3 for the first time ever.
12. A week after the Jets look good, they look like crap against the then winless Eagles.
13. Our first quarterback controversy could be brewing, in Cleveland no less.
14. Lot of star players going down in the first three weeks.

Top 5: Lombardi Division (unchanged)

1. Patriots - They are still the reigning champs, and they beat down the lowly Jaguars.
2. Packers - They are pushing for that top spot. I mean, Rodgers looks really good right now.
3. Cardinals - Carson Palmer + that defense = Winning formula.
4. Bengals - Dalton looks really good right now.
5. Falcons - Found a way to win, and look good in the process.

Bottom 5: The Participation Ribbon Division

32. Bears - Unbearably bad.
31. Saints - Might they be 0-4. There's a good chance of that being the case.
30. Lions - So bad.
29. Ravens - Certainly aren't as bad as their record indicates.
28. Buccaneers - Yeah, they belong down here.

The Ingersoll Pick of the Week

Team guaranteed to win this week:

Carolina Panthers - A combination of defense, and Cam Newton should propel them to victory over the Buccaneers, who by the way have shown improvement, but not enough to win this game.

Next week: Coaches on the hot seat

Bye Week Teams: Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots

Thursday October 1st

8:25PM EST

(NFL/CBS) Ravens (0-3) at Steelers (2-1) - The Ravens have played tough teams and lost. The Steelers have Vick at QB this week, and to be honest, it's like downside of Career Vick. Sure he has some weapons at his disposal. Probably more weapons than he's ever had. But to be honest, Vick has always been a better runner than a QB. He has to think pass first, run last. Ravens have to start fast. I mean, if they fall behind, they are going to lose and be 0-4 and then there will be rumors about jobs being lost. Sadly, they will lose a close one. Steelers 20, Ravens 16

Sunday October 4th

1PM EST

(CBS) Jets (2-1) at Dolphins (1-2) - I really don't know what to make of this Dolphins team. Are they Participation Trophy bad? Possibly. Jets either. Two wins over quality opponents, and then made to look like bumbling idiots by the Eagles. It's in Miami. Fitzpatrick is still Fitzpatrick. If the defense plays like they should, they should be able to shut down that Miami offense with the greatest of ease. Miami has to minimize the turnovers if they want to come away with a victory. I don't see a TD battle. More like a yawnfest. Jets 17, Dolphins 13

(CBS) Jaguars (1-2) at Colts (1-2) - Colts have an insane record against the AFC South with Luck at QB. I don't see that changing. I think this week, we could see a 4TD pass game from Luck. Colts 41, Jaguars 10

(FOX) Giants (1-2) at Bills (2-1) - Gonna be honest here...the Giants got away with a W last week, and it could have been a disaster. The Bills beat Miami down. Just down. And Tyrod Taylor is turning out to be one of the best decisions Rex Ryan has made in a long time. Kid is actually good. Bills defense should be able to get 3 turnovers out of this Giants team. I don't see it being a good game for Eli. Bills 31, Giants 13

(FOX) Panthers (3-0) at Buccaneers (1-2) - Already picked the Panthers as a sure bet this week. Plus they got Jared Allen to help that defense with Kuechly. Panthers aren't a Super Bowl contender with the likes of the Packers, Seahawks, and Cardinals, but they should be a wild card team at best. Panthers 27, Buccaneers 9

(FOX) Eagles (1-2) at Redskins (1-2) - Eagles looked good last week. Murray was no where to be seen, but their offense looked decent. Bradford, is he really an NFL starting QB. He doesn't play like it to be honest. The Redskins, just looked bad. Had a chance to punch the Giants in the face, and did not play up to the level their defense can. It won't be a high scoring game. Kirk Cousins remembered he's just a backup at best last week. Eagles 20, Redskins 14

(CBS) Raiders (2-1) at Bears (0-3) - Look the Bears are bad. They are what I thought the Raiders would be. Clausen looked stupid bad last week. Their defense has been traded away. Even Jay Cutler at QB can't really help how bad this team is right now. Lot of holes to fix. Raiders, well they have been playing pretty good all season. They can get to 3-1 and totally will. Raiders 24, Bears 7

(CBS) Texans (1-2) at Falcons (3-0) - Right now, Julio Jones is in the NFL MVP conversation. Won't win, but he's in the conversation. The FALCONS have been playing great. Their defense gives up a lot of points, but the offense scores just enough to win. Texans, well. I think that coach is on the hot seat. Two years of ineptitude. These are must win games for him. They won't win. So many problems with the team. Starting with the offense. Falcons 27, Texans 13

(CBS) Chiefs (1-2) at Bengals (3-0) - If the Bengals want to be considered "elite" these are games they have to win. Their offense has to keep pressing the gas pedal, and their defense have to get some 3 and outs. The Chiefs have a short week, after getting beat up on Monday night by the Packers. Offense finally came to life, but they are going to play a Bengals team that has a good defense and weapons all over the field. Bengals 34, Chiefs 20

4:05PM EST

(CBS) Browns (1-2) at Chargers (1-2) - I think this is the game where if McCown doesn't play well, he's yanked by the 2nd quarter. The Chargers are one of those teams that play good in spurts, and this is a game where they can jump on the Browns and keep scoring after a few turnovers. Chargers should get a much needed W. Chargers 27, Browns 17

(FOX) Packers (3-0) at 49ers (1-2)- After that beating in the Desert last week, the 49ers are reeling. I mean to be honest, this is how I saw their season going after all of the departures and retirements. The 49ers are a 6-10 team at best and their QB needs to stop turning the ball over. Not 1, but 2 pick sixes last week. Packers should drop another 40 spot on them this week, especially since Rodgers holds a grudge against the 49ers for not drafting the Bay Area kid. Packers 42, 49ers 13

(FOX) Rams (1-2) at Cardinals (3-0) - Big game for the Cardinals. Division game, a chance to get a big lead in the NFC West. They can put away the hapless Rams. I fully expect the Cardinals to drop 35 on them, with the greatest of ease. Cardinals 38, Rams 17

(FOX) Vikings (2-1) vs Broncos (3-0) - Boy the Broncos have been flirting with disaster. They have an offense that is ranked pretty low. But a defense that is ranked top ten. That is balance, but not the balance they want. They need to find some offense, and fast. The Vikings can score some points, and they have AP. I don't think it's enough to beat the Broncos at home though. Broncos 24, Vikings 17

8:25PM EST

(NBC) Cowboys (2-1) at Saints (0-3) - Had the defense held up, the Cowboys could be 3-0. This is a game they have to win if they want to keep a hold on the division long enough for Romo and Bryant to return. If they lose to a terrible, lowly Saints team, they are going to be in serious trouble. Stick to the run, and let the defense hold. Cowboys 31, Saints 13

Monday October 5th

8:30PM EST

(ESPN) Lions (0-3) at Seahawks (1-2) - For the second straight week, the Seahawks get a crap NFC North team in which to beateth on. And beateth they shall. I can see another shutout. The Lions have so many questions and few answers. Seahawks can get back to .500 and back on track. Seahawks 37, Lions 6

Happy NFL Week 4
