NFL Week 16

NFL WEEK 16 is here. The season is about two weeks from ending. For the Browns, it's been over since the Preseason.

Thoughts from Week 15

1. I wouldn't want to play the Packers right now. They are as hot/good as any team.
2. See also, The Giants.
3. The Titans and Bucs took HUGE steps this season. You're talking about two teams that were 1/2 in the 2015 draft. Then still had top 10 picks in the 2016 draft. Now both on the cusp of being playoff teams. Talking about building teams the right way, look at those two franchises.
4. Pay attention to those two franchises, Browns/49ers. You can learn a thing or 50.
5. Congrats to the Raiders for making the playoffs for the first time since I was 22. (14 years ago).6.
6. Dolphins have a winning season for the first time in a long time. Won't dethrone the Patriots, but that is a huge step forward for that franchise.
7. Cardinals, you have a lot of tough decisions to make in the offseason.
8. If the Falcons can win this week, and the Bucs lose, they win the division.
9. This time of the year is always exciting because of the "IF they win, and they lose, or this team ties" scenarios.
10. Chargers, please keep the Browns winless.

Bonus:

As a reminder, since it is Christmas on Sunday, there are 12 games on Saturday, 2 games Sunday this week.

Top 5 Teams

1. Patriots
2. Cowboys
3. Raiders
4. Seahawks
5. Chiefs

Bottom 5 Teams

32. Browns - Not even close.
31. 49ers - Well, almost.
30. Jaguars
29. Bears
28. Rams

Coaches with their ass to the fire

1. Jeff Fisher  FIRED
2. Mike McCoy
3. Marvin Lewis
3a. Gus Bradley FIRED
4. Hue Jackson- Survive an 0-16 season. I doubt it.
5. Mike McCarthy

Last week 13-3

Thursday December 22nd

(NBC) Giants (10-4) at Eagles (5-9)-  Look, division games are always tough. The Eagles, have nothing to play for. Maybe draft position. They improved slightly from last season, BUT, when you start out 3-0, and then only have 5 wins, is that really a successful season? Meanwhile, The Giants can clinch a playoff spot with a win, and can also get one step closer to a division title with a monday night loss for Dallas. Giants should stop the rookie QB. Giants 20, Eagles 10

Saturday, December 24th

(CBS) Dolphins (9-4) at Bills (7-7)- I'm all about the Dolphins making the playoffs. Would be great, considering they have been bad in recent seasons. The Bills, well they have lots of problems. Probably will be needing a new head coach, as Rex Ryan isn't as good as he thinks he is. It's in Buffalo, I really don't think the Dolphins will go in and get a W in that cold. Bills 17, Dolphins 14

(CBS) Jets (4-10) at Patriots (12-2)- Patriots still have a shot at the number one seed. You think that they won't come out and shoot down the Jets? Wrong. They are going to beat them down.  Ugg boots for everyone, in the ass, courtesy of one Tom Brady. Patriots 31, Jets 10

(CBS) Titans (8-6) at Jaguars (2-12) - The Titans, if they win, can go into their final game looking to clinch the division against the Texans. They have surprised everyone by winning this season. They have already beat the jaguars, and should dispatch them with that run game of theirs. Titans 24, Jaguars 9

(FOX) Vikings (7-7) at Packers (8-6)- The Packers are 4-0 since Rodgers said his "we can run the table" line. If they win this week, and the Lions lose, next weeks Packers/Lions game will be for the division. The Vikings, are 2-7 since starting 5-0, that is not a fluke. Just a product of a soft schedule. I believe, at home, The Packers will prevail. Packers 28, Vikings 16

(CBS) Chargers (5-9) at Browns (0-14) - Well, they are two losses away from history. Don't start winning now, Browns. Chargers 34, Browns 7

(FOX) Redskins (7-6-1) at Bears (3-11) - The Redskins were a wildcard team just two weeks ago, now they are not. That loss to Dallas really hurt them on Thanksgiving. They really don't have a shot to make the playoffs. Not with the Lions and Buccaneers fighting for the second wildcard spot right now. Bears, well they have a top 10 defense, but a bottom 5 offense. Redskins can use this to ensure they have a winning season. Redskins 24, Bears 9

(FOX) Falcons (9-5) at Panthers (6-8) - The Panthers have managed to put a little win streak together. The Falcons know they have to score early, and often. They of the back to back 40 plus point games. They have to hold off the streaking Bucs or else they could be in risk of losing the division. Falcons squeak by. Falcons 27, Panthers 24

(CBS) Colts (7-7) at Raiders (11-3) - The Raiders, combined with a Chiefs loss, could win the AFC West outright with a win this week. They face a Colts team that will miss the playoffs for the second consecutive year. The Colts need to really focus in the draft and find a defense. That is the Achilles heel of this team. I think a shootout is in order, with the Raiders coming out on top. Raiders 34, Colts 31

(FOX) Buccaneers (8-6) at Saints (6-8) - Just because they are going to miss the playoffs, doesn't mean they can't spoil others parades. The Saints can damage the Bucs chances by beating them. The Bucs have a stingy defense, and was really only undone by Winston's 4 turnovers last week. The Saints, dropped 48 in the desert. They won't score that many, but I think this will be a close game, with the Bucs prevailing. Buccaneers 27, Saints 21

(FOX) Cardinals (5-8-1) at Seahawks (9-4-1) - Talk about a tale of two teams. Since they tied, the teams have gone in opposite directions. The Seahawks won the division, while the Cardinals, who was supposed to challenge for it, is 4 games back in the win column. This won't end in a tie, but it will be a close Seahawks win. Seahawks 13, Cardinals 10

(FOX) 49ers (1-13) at Rams (4-10) - Right now the 49ers are firmly locked into that number two draft spot. The Rams, fresh off of firing their coach, are in the top 10 and both teams need lots of help on both sides of the ball. The Rams will generate some points, with Goff finally showing why he can be a middle tier QB in this league for a few years. Rams 17, 49ers 13

(NFL) Bengals (5-8-1) at Texans (8-6) - If the Texans want to make the playoffs, they have to stop a Bengals offense that can put up some points. Problem is, the Texans offense is like if a tornado hits a trailer park. I think the Bengals pull off the upset. Bengals 38, Texans 20

CHRISTMAS DAY!

Sunday December 25th

(NFL) Ravens (8-6) at Steelers (9-5) - Plain and simple, this is for the division. If the Steelers win, they take it. If the Ravens win this game and next week, they take the division. Never an easy game. Both teams are typically good and put up a fight. Matter of fact, since they became the Ravens, they have won 20 games against the Steelers. The Steelers have won 21.  I think the Steelers squeak by and make it to the playoffs. Steelers 16, Ravens 12

(NBC) Broncos (8-6) at Chiefs (10-4) - The Broncos, in order to have a shot at the last wildcard spot, have to win this game and hope for a Dolphins loss. They did not beat the Chiefs earlier this season. They won't this game, either. The Chiefs have to win out, and hope for a Raiders loss to claim the division. Otherwise, they will be a wildcard team. I don't see the Chiefs losing. Won't be a high scoring affair. Chiefs 21, Broncos 14

Monday December 26th

(ESPN) Lions (9-5) at Cowboys (12-2) - If the Giants lose on Thursday this week, The Cowboys will be division champs. I don't see that happening. The Cowboys have to win. The Lions can take one step closer to the playoffs by winning. It's going to be a tall order considering the run game Dallas puts forth, and a rookie capable of making teams pay with his feet and his patience in the pocket. The Lions can win still make the playoffs, but they will have to fight for it next week against the Packers. Dallas wins. Cowboys 27, Lions 14
